There used to be what purported to be a sort of Malaysian-Singaporean restaurant or cafe or something in my city but I never went there because the menu seemed off and, perhaps more shallowly, they had the stupidest fucking name I've ever heard given to *any* eating establishment. I was sort of embarrassed for them.
They lasted like less than a year. Maybe next time don't call your restaurant "Fisticuffs".

over on bsky, a librarian whom I very much admire just posted "Nobody whose opinion I value is a fan of AI" and that AI is for the lazy and lonely.
This technology is the most stupidly polarizing I think I have ever seen since at least the early Web. It turns people -- absolutists on both sides -- into mean, ugly people. Exhausting.

dude. *every* kombucha recipe is "ancient". Probably nearly every method is "ancient", unless you're carbonating it with CO2 instead of a secondary ferment. The SCOBY is just a big gross pile of yeasts and bacteria.

it still absolutely fucks me up how homeschooling is legal. Like I could see it for *very narrow religious reasons* (god, *so* narrow) or if your child was EXTREMELY special needs or something, but apparently you can just go "yeah I don't want my kid to go to school. I didn't go to school either but I am fully qualified to teach my child so there we go"
