No normal family in my country could afford a full encyclopedia due to cost, but some grants or rich folks with good fortune donated such books to our school library. Reading was fun in young days and seeing even many black and white pictures helped in those books take trips into the future or past. Good times & so many memories.

people don't realize this, but this is how they infect a good product and build surveillance network. today it is age verification for OS, tomorrow they will come with sex verification to target LGBQT+ groups or country verification to target minorities or immgirations, etc.

Mozilla has a new CEO and he just announced that Firefox will evolve into a modern AI browser. This is a good example of how management doesn’t understand its own user base and why they go out of their way to install Firefox on Windows, Android, iOS and other devices.

This is a paid partnership disguised as a privacy feature that Mozilla is pushing on everyone. I can’t believe how much they have fallen from their days of fighting against IE. End of Japanese community at Mozilla due to the introduction of AI-based translation.
The community members have expressed disappointment and frustration that their long term volunteer efforts and local knowledge were being replaced by machine translation, which they felt did not match the quality of human provided support.
