Ok, lets see what the hive mind has for me...
I'm looking for some form of #FOSS, #SelfHosted digital archiving managment system.
The goal is some form of "family archive", which means it has to support a wide array of media (eg various audio-visual files, PDFs, images (png,jpg,webp etc), probably some Office docs).
All with decent searching, in a web interface.
Think #PaperlessNgx , but MOAR. and with slant.
Document classification automation (if functional) would be nice, but not essential.
access control a must.
and ofcourse "proper general archiving" stuff,whatever that might be.

ah, but wait, there's more!
My partners previous ink tank printer (canon) one day stopped working, because the "ink pads are full".
which means no printing AND NO scanning either.
They finally found out the ink pads are super cheap.
BUT,once swapped, you need a reset code to get it working again.
And guess what THAT costs?
Yes - the opposite of "cheap" (you either pay some "authorised dealer" for a code,or you pay for the software that generates the key - either way, you cough).

This was,for the most part, a #Valheim #Weekend.
#Today, the wife and kids started while I was sleeping in.
They ended up in Black Forest (?), in way over their heads.
Much screaming, panic and dying ensued. Repeatedly.
Grey Dwarfs and skeletons by the dozens. Even just running was apparently problematic.
Anyway, eventually I was up and joined, managed to built a raft and sail around the coast to pick them up from where they were able to retreat to.
Good times.

So #Nedbank just let me know they are dropping SMS transactions completely.
Everything through their stupid app from 2025.
I don't think this is an improvment.
for example, the app notifications always only come through in the late afternoon currently.
A bit late if you got pwned in the morning...

- wifi6 mesh
- with ethernet backhaul
- does not depend on some stupid (cloud based) app/account to configure/manage
- is actually obtainable here
- is not crazy expensive
Was looking at TP-link Deco X20, but then found this:

The OTHER notice I can't accept because 'error'. again. Still.
Meanwhile kid still can't log into their damn app, which Nedbank pushes likes their CEOs life dependent on it.
I honestly don't know what clown is running their app dev the last year, but looks like they brought the whole circus.

- brushed and kinda trimmed the dogs
- toilette inlet thing washer replaced, so it shuts the water like a champ again.in the process also figure out how to properly adjust the damn thing to prevent over filling
- dishwasher is almost done
- eldest (expired) epi-pen has been replaced (also fuck Heather Bresch with ALL the dicks. may her toast always be too dry. also giant hemorrhoids for her, forever).
Anyway, still 💯 HATE plumbing jobs.

but yeah, in the general case there is a very tough debtate to be had om this topic.
For example, silicon fabs setting up business in drought striken areas (because favorable tax breaks), sucking up all available water,while locals sit high and dry.
Interesting times.

He's been working there for 10 years.
Through all the previous water interuptions, they were all fine with the water stored in jojo's.
But now..NOW some jeenius installed a brand new car wash over a whole bunch of parking spots.
