Continuing on the topic of Nextcloud, this time I talk about generating TLS certificates with the use of Tailscale. This allows me to have a proper HTTPS connection when accessing Nextcloud with Tailscale. No more browsers complaining that the connection is insecure. And this mechanism can be used to secure any local services reachable over VPN!

Did anyone ever try to move a GoToSocial instance between servers? I want to switch VPS providers, and move my GTS from one server to another, preferably not losing any data in the process. Can it cause problems with federation? My GTS instance uses a SQLite DB and an nginx reverse proxy.

Wow, now I like Tailscale even more.
Tailscale allows to generate TLS certificated for services available only in their tailnet. I generated a TLS cert for my private Nextcloud and now I longer those "insecure connection" warnings in the browser.

if len( the_list ) < 1:
you can just do "if the_list:" instead of that

Random useful linux CLI thing I just learnt.
If you don't want to see all that lengthy text after sshing to a machine, just do
touch ~/.hushlogin
on the machine you are sshing to. Now there won't be any messages to clutter your terminal.

I already have a ten Gigabit port PoE+ switch, so in total I will have ~20 RJ45 ports and 1 SFP.
The only other thing I need to buy is a SFP+ switch to put 10G fiber between my home office and the server room.

I'm thinking of checking out exposing my local services to the Web using https://github.com/fatedier/frp
Let's say I want to expose a HTTP server running on a Pi. I would put that Pi on a different VLAN for security. Can I setup my local communication in a way that I could SSH into that Pi from my laptop in another VLAN, but that Pi would not be able to connect in any way to other machines in my local network?
What is the industry standard way to handle this?
