You might be interested in subscribing to the Environics Institute newsletter. They report on opinion surveys, with a lot of coverage of US vs Canadian opinions.
This one reported a growing divergence of values between the two countries.

I think the real story is those 91 names on the ballot, most of which had the same Official Agent.
Same thing in St Paul's riding in June. Something nefarious is afoot and Elections Canada can do nothing about it.
