Your analysis of a stupendously important aspect of human behavior is one of the most profound thoughts I've seen on social media. Thank you for expressing it in a gentle, rather than confrontational, way.
Natural selection is an example, but not the only instance.
You could say I'm biased, as I have long held similar opinions about intelligent people who seem stupid on selected topics. But I'll bet there are many more of us.

That habit slips up on us, especially when we have good reasons to be full of rage. But I think we have to try to avoid overuse of "fucking" or any other pejorative word, because there's risk that a habit of speech can gradually become a habit of thinking. At least, that's my experience. Would you agree?
I'm not against the word, just saying we shouldn't let it dominate what we say. If it's over-used to an extreme, there may not be much real thinking going on.

Once again, Sarah Taber has done a splendid job of cutting through political smoke. Her real, down-to-earth examples show what deceptions Kennedy is selling. Compelling people to work for free on farms is slavery, not mental health treatment. She also points out that it will expose vulnerable people to physical and sexual abuse by supervisors and coworkers. And her points about Kennedy's approach to problems of all sorts are worth hearing.
It's worth your 17 minutes.

Clever people can do a lot, even with a very low budget. But be skeptical before you imitate, especially if there's no photos of finished setup or product.
This "kiln' might be able to low-fire some clay mixtures, but if you want real, hard, durable ceramics, you need a more serious approach. Or, a pit in the dirt can produce very basic ceramics, without the kiln-build effort.

I agree with blocking Tariq if he insists the thread turn to a rant about 'what the USA does overseas'. The US has done sordid things.
But what's urgent is 'how can good people survive and defeat the fascist onslaught'.

Agree - we do have power and it's time to use it.
But (Re: silliness of accepting health care cuts, but rising to protect a comedian), it's tricky discussing complex issues. Maybe differing perspectives, of older folks vs younger, needs more of our attention. Young ones, at least those lucky and healthy, are less likely to see a critical need for health insurance. But they do hate corporate censorship of what they pay for.

Even after my wife had been diagnosed with dementia, the neurologist's staff continued to administer the usual dementia tests every time my wife had an appointment there.
One time, when she was to draw a clock, she drew a very elaborate and accurate depiction of a cuckoo clock, with the little bird emerging to announce the time.
Dementia is Hell, but it does have humorous moments.

The first Confederacy started with bullies mouthing off, making threats, pounding their chests about an inevitable (quick) victory, and declaring that God was on their side.
They shed a lot of blood and wrought terrible damage, especially to their own land, economy and people.
But more than half of the people in the Confederate states did not want the Confederacy and were not loyal to it. Without the ordinary people's wholehearted support, the "rich man's war" failed.

Rare portrait of an Anhinga, perched on a limb rather than half-submerged (so we see the whole bird) and dry (so the lighter tones are crisp against the darker feathers). In perfect lighting, from its elevated orange beak and its eye watching the camera, to the orange touch at the tip of its tail. Beautiful!

Oddly, I haven't seen that much pro-Nazi or pro-oligarchy stuff.
But, in general, perhaps we should not try to completely wipe every bit of deplorable garbage from our feeds. I think that one major factor in the "sudden" and "astonishing" collapse of democracy in the US is that truthful, patriotic Americans just weren't hearing the slime that was being sold to the gullible.

THANKS for alerting people to this calamity.
My brother in western NC is a ham radio operator. He and colleagues are the ONLY means of communication for thousands of people stranded by Helene. They can't call out of the region or even check on family and friends nearby. Cell service gone, internet and e-mail out, landlines gone, power water and sewer systems down, roadways washed out including interstate highways. Govt says "All highways are closed."
