🍸😺Speaking of extra packaging, that reminds me of the time I ordered (this was before wildly available downloads) the Scheme programming language from Texas instruments. All the program examples in The Structure and Interpretation of Computer Programs (Abelson and Sussman)were in Scheme, and I wanted to have a look at Scheme. Anyway, a single 5 1/4 inch floppy disk arrived in a box about three times the size of the one pictured in your photo.🍸😹

There is a Japanese Garden at Cal State Long Beach, reservations (free) required. Is it the other end of a huge parking lot from the very photogenic gigantic blue pyramid which I think houses a basketball court. Also, the Long Beach airport is quite lovely🍸😺

I specifically looked up Harold Faltermeyer's theme song for that movie… One of the first songs that I knew that used a drum machine. One of the first real software jobs that I had was writing the operating software for the Linn 9000 drum machine.

yes I agree🍸🐈 Jensen's ambit of care is limited to the fate of his own company, a mistake. Each year I try on my birthday to read this summary of ideas on the Myth of Care, but this year I forgot*. Thanks for reminding me (I read it before replying). I think it is far worse that he direct his employees to limit their ethical focus. Stephen Witt's book is still extremely good🍸🐈

I just read Stephen Witt's book on Jensen and Nvidia. For him, p(doom)= zero. Thus, he has spent zero time evaluating or protecting against harmful or downside effects of AI, and has instructed his employees not to think about it either. The book is engaging, entertaining, and informative. I laughed many times. Jensen does not really come off as a bad guy, and nor do I think he is. People ask him about this a lot though, and it makes him mad.🍸🐈

So true! Meanwhile, headed in your direction is Ann Utterback’s book “Broadcast Voice Handbook”. Recommended to me by friend Judy Muller who was teaching broadcast journalism at USC at the time, it was so helpful to me when I was making software-related videos awhile back. I used the translate to Spanish on the 15pro, but it was through the button on the upper left, so I don't think it was the same thing they are talking about now has live translations. Since the dictation is not even very good at translating my own words into my own language yet, I have not bothered to try the live translations, which have got to have that as their basis, right? 🍸😺

Are you standing up while recording the screencast? I remember that's what Judy Muller recommended in her course on broadcast audio. I got her book when I was doing screencasts, and I also remember she said to annotate the script with how you want to emphasize the words, so I did that too. 🍸🐈
