Gen X here, I remember, and wish they still were huge. Fortunately there are some classic arcades springing up. We need to learn to make vector displays again though.
Of course those kids learned early personal computing and grew up to be successful techies. Will the generation that learned on an iPad develop similar skills?

The USA was basically the "trust fund kid" who could live off the international clout of the dollar. That era seems to be ending.
China (and other Asian countries) was the scrappy kid who had to earn himself a place in the world.
The trust fund kid is going to have to get a job, and he's going to hate that.

There needs to be a law requiring any data sharing from a car to be disclosed, visible to the end user, and able to be turned off entirely.
It should also be illegal to disable other things that are not technically dependent on data sharing if data sharing is disabled.

This is like Pearl Harbor and 9/11 in that you have to ask, did the people at the top just not take the threat seriously? Or did they let it happen?
Having all the sentry towers go out within a few minutes should have triggered a red alert.
In all three cases, Pearl Harbor, 9/11, and 10/7, a more powerful state did not take seriously the idea that a presumed-weaker enemy would just suddenly COME AT THEM with everything they had.
Or they had a covert agenda.

Where's the conflict here? If you should avoid debt, that means debt is costly for you and profitable for the lender. So be the lender. Makes perfect business sense, not to be mistaken for any sort of moral principle.

This is the problem with most American business. Finance is more profitable than whatever the business was supposed to be doing.
This is equally true of carmakers or Boeing or even Apple. Apple effectively became a bank by selling you the phone with a disguised loan and getting your payments from the carrier.

If Zuck had continued his anti-Trump ways, he would right now be staring down a criminal indictment and enough copyright lawsuits to bankrupt his company.
