Having 2D sprites made the game less demanding on the PC. Case in point: I would not be able to play AoE3 (2005) until five years later because my machine would not even start the game, while AoE2 ran perfectly.
On the topic of bad developers who don't optimise their games: how does AoE2 Definitive Edition require 15GB of storage and a "recommended" 8GB of RAM? Those graphics are all 2D. :whitecat_wtf:
And it's not even because it supports 4K: you have to download an extra (free) pack if you want 4K graphics. By default it's 1080p. :gordonramsay_wtf:

Not even that: AoE1 and 2 don't use 3D graphics in-game. The units and buildings are designed in 3D Studio Max (or were around 1998) but then rasterised into 2D sprites. That's how both "Definitive Edition"s work today.
Age of Mythology was the first to use real 3D graphics in real time.

There's actually good reasoning behind the retarded overt reason: AoE1 is nearly unplayable by today's RTS standards. It lacks formations, AI pathing is so bad units get stuck by trees or walls and a bunch of other quality of life improvements that SHOULD have been in the so-called "Definitive Edition" Microsoft is selling, but aren't.
Clearly, the base game must be impossible to modify to add those features or Microsoft is nigger and won't pay developers to do it, so they thought it'd be better to add the Romans in a medieval game and port the rest into a separate .exe or something.
Retardation on the level of what that executive wanted in 1999 by adding Koreans to the AoE2 expansion.

Because AoE1 is so popular in Vietnam, but is also a dated game that Microsoft can't use to sell infinite expansions for, they made an expansion for AoE2 to "port" AoE1 into it, plus adding Vietnam to the game, in hopes that the Vietnamese would stop playing AoE1 and start playing AoE2. So, basically, the same shit that the developer was mentioning.

A wizard in a back alley charged me 50 coins for a special spell that will come and go at random. I'm told this was a solid investment.

Gordon is not listening to the fact an armed employee was threatening the owners with bodily harm and keeps saying Amy blames everyone and never takes accountability for anything. This disregard for human life upsets Amy.
Chef Ramsay reveals he spoke to previous staff. The owners look concerned. Gordon mentions how the girl said 50 people had been fired in the past year. Amy goes Destiny on Gordon and demands that he show proof of the 50 employees. I think there's a side plot about the air force shooting that fire ball out of the sky with missiles. But Gordon is not deterred by the otherworldly menace and goes back to the restaurant with a new plan to make things better...
...but it's closed.
So he instead meets with a pair of former employees to gather intel about how ABC operates. The girl says in her year working there she saw 50 people go in and out of the place as employees. The guy says that Samy is always in a bad mood and once made him wash his car.

They're making pizza. Amy says people tell her that her pizza is the best pizza they had in their lives.

75 minutes of waiting and one undercooked pizza later, Gordon complains about the waiting. Amy will released the next food item like 3D Realms were gonna release Duke Nukem Forever: **when it's done**.
Burger arrives. Too oily. Ramsay squishes it and it drips a litre of juices. "That's one shit burger" are Ramsay's sage words.
Ravioli. Frozen, confused, store-bought. Samy didn't tell Gordon that despite Gordon asking the same about the prior item he was gonna pick. As if Samy intentionally withheld information in hopes chef didn't notice.
Salmon burger. Dry. Cat food.

Now turns out the waitress tells Gordon she's not allowed tips. Gordon asks who keeps them and she says "the owner" and they show Samy. Is this guy a jew?Ramsay looks displeased.
In the kitchen, Amy says when chef Ramsay tastes her food, he'll realise that God wants her to do this.

She goes back to the online bullies. Gordon tells her "you need thick skin in this business". Amy doesn't seem to listen to him and goes on about how they call her "crazy Amy" because she stood up to the bullies.

says Amy. Gordon must grab those online bullies by their neck beards and put them in their place. Ramsay looks bewildered by the prospect of having to hunt trolls.
This is bizarre episode. The pacing is weird. Gordon didn't appear until the 8th minute, after we saw the owners get violent on the customers, and now it's a mix of normalcy with latent insanity.

What the fuck is happening!? The episode hasn't even started and it's all chaos in the restaurant. A guy complained that he's been waiting for one hour for a pizza and Samy chimps out at him.

The place is called "**Prohibition Grille**", but apparently, they don't have a grill. Is this some sort of avant garde, art house project?
There's this Rishi woman, a belly dancer, who thought she did such a good job as belly dancer, she'd probably also do great as restaurant owner. :guido_hand:

The owner is this guy named Peter, also the cook. Peter's family work in the restaurant. With daughter Alyse :doge_sex: as one of the chefs and Peter's wife, Karen, who may or may not be Greek, working as a waitress.
I hear this takes place in Seattle, which would make sense for it to have a Greek restaurant due to its proximity to Greece.
