I have such a love hate relationship with Alby’s products. On paper the Alby Hub is great, but I’ve had lots of issues with it over past year. In contrast my LND Umbrel node and even my embedded Zeus wallet node have been rock solid. Unfortunately, I want my Ocean lightning payments, so I guess I’m stuck with them.

Curious how you’re using it? I’m a developer by trade and manage a team for a large web application in the education space. We’ve seen a lot of productivity gains by using models like Claude and ChatGPT through GitHub Copilot. The whole vibe coding scene is a joke, as no model can effectively right a decent production ready application by itself, but I would say I’d question hiring a developer today who wasn’t at least willing to experiment with AI in their workflow.

Anyone know if @nprofile…qss4 Hub supports paying AMP invoices? Specifically through Alby Go? If so is there a way to turn it on? I got an invalid invoice error when trying to pay an AMP invoice generated through Zeus. Disabling AMP in Zeus fixes it.

I think I'm done with @nprofile…3xgh .
My wallet has been locked for the second time in two weeks and I'm unable to deposit via Strike or Lightning invoice. Their app has always had a certain degree of jank to it, and I've put up with it for the last couple years because it did seem like it was improving incrementally.
If anyone knows of an alternative, I'm open to suggestions, otherwise I'm going back to Spotify.

They may be closed source, but they talk in depth on how their technical implementation and architecture works in a white paper you can find on their site. They also undergo regular 3rd party audits and publish the results. They've never been hacked or had customer data compromised.
Open Source doesn't mean better security or even that bugs will always get caught before being exploited.

Jade is only "less secure" to a Coldcard if the Coldcard is part of a multi-sig setup made up of other geographically diverse hardware wallets. Otherwise if it's a single sig Coldcard it's more secure assuming the use of the 2of2 or 2of3 account types in Blockstream Wallet. It's cool if you dig Coldcards, but don't spread misinformation.

While I don't think I can dispute that really given some of the war-mongers we've had in office, I do think with Trump in office that will cease.
I was more referring to the comparison between Canada and the US regarding how safe guarded citizens rights are:

We owe it to future bitcoiners to be building out proper non-custodial solutions now, up to and including layer 1 improvements that will enable things like UTXO sharing. It's just now dawning on many they need Bitcoin, yet Satoshi had the foresight over 15 yrs ago to create this life changing technology. We need to practice the same future thinking and not get distracted by NGU and institutions/governments rolling in.

Stop requiring users to trust you with their nsec. Replace KYC Strike backed built-in wallet with either a cashu mint or fedi. Make it easy for users to use any wallet they want with NWC should they choose to opt out of built-in wallet. Use tools like Nostr.build rather than your own CDN solution. Generally just be a better more inclusive Nostr client and stop giving off vibes that you're using the protocol to build your own walled garden.
