what i'm speaking up against is the mixup of "compassion" vs "comprehension".
it should not be necessary to take (or even consider) the "side" of any perpetrator, to identify the point at which the tragedy could have been averted.

i can now navigate to the artist column for the whole folder and set the artist name for everything in one go!

still doesn't save, still crashes on backspace, but at least it looks cute now! next - make it save tags, thanks to https://docs.rs/lofty (as recommended by https://codeberg.org/Frieder_Hannenheim), and that'll probably be the v0.1

afaik `export default const` also doesn't work - even in raw #javascript.
that one's because a single `const` kw can define multiple constants like `const foo = "1", bar = 2` - which one will be the default?
but typescript's `type` keyword does not in fact enable you to define multiple types like `type Foo = string, Bar = number`!
general clunkiness of es modules syntax aside, this sort of counterintuitive inconsistencies between js and ts just make #typescript feel shoddy

for now, it pops up a scrolling table, based on data loaded by a multi-threaded indexing loop (doing concurrency in #rust is pretty enjoyable! no #async needed, either). lets you edit it (but crashes on backspace, lol). doesn't save it yet. pre-alpha stuff.

the other #rustlang thingy that's been cooking (and just passed a #ci run) is called #taggart.
it uses #tengri to pop up an interactive table to edit things, namely: the #id3 tags of music releases
its purpose? why, to make it easier to prepare a certain pile of content (that we've accumulated with a friend over the past, what, 6-7 years), for publication in a sovereign #faircamp instance! but none of it's well-tagged and existing interactive mediatag editors are ugh

- that this graphic was made at all. i mean, how many modern gui frameworks even have succinct visual documentation like pictured here?
- how few entities there are in the class tree in the first place (again in comparison with modern stuff like, say libadwaita, or a some web widget library atop react atop web dom atop browser...). but when i look at it, it seems to have all the essentials

i've seen a few wrappers like this but linvst is new to me. i'll look at it.
one reason is wanting to learn about how it all works under the hood, of course. but ultimately, i don't care about wineprefixes, installers, all these various moving parts and leaked implementation details that make my soul hurt.
i want containers, isolation. building blocks. an audio plugin is a function (input[], parameters[])->output[] and i want to be able to treat it like one

this stuff is exciting! i think i could use a similar approach to shim abandoned closed-source music plugins (win32 vst2) into to a format i can use on linux
even started looking into it (https://mastodon.social/@unspeaker/113324660678159093). suppose i statically link the required dlls' wine equivalents to the plugin? what can i use to adapt between 32 and 64 bit tho? i remember linux multiarch being a hassle

got rid of #ratatui's `Rect` and main loop. pretty much the only thing i'm using from that lib now is `Buffer` diffing (and stuff like `Char` and `Style` that go into the `Buffer`).
not happy with how it forces me to convert to `u16` all the time, but two weeks plus change is as much as i can dedicate to this refactor

so i took last 2 weeks to rewrite the entire #tui rendering engine for my proto-#daw to (1) be generic over rendering backend and (2) support functional/declarative definitions of components.
i had previously split the pictured code into 5 struct impls just to be able to manage it. now it fits quite nicely in a single method
only problem is it looks like line noise - i don't need all these `move|add|{`, `&`, `?`, `Ok(())`, `\n}`... but the #rustlang compiler does

launch stub compositor (empty session that immediately does a clean exit as soon as it starts) -> if it exits cleanly, wayland is supported, if it crashes, wayland is not supported 😁

i don't mind the crazy dreams, they're pretty much the most interesting thing in my offline life 😁 had some cool ones this week. i've tried all of those except for theanine, but they do very little for me. maybe if i upped the dosage and took em more often 🤷 been considering lithium orotate since my main problem seems to be anxiety. every day i've got a sorta normal amount of waking attention, but very few things to actually attend to, low frustration threshold doesnt help either

it's kinda hard to make a good design and implementation for nested focusing of widgets in a mouseless interface, especially with the type erasure that trait-based dynamic dispatch does

yes, but "intelligently" - e.g. when you have a manually wrapped piece of text and you're trying to read it on a more narrow screen with automatic word wrap, it splits every line into a longer and a shorter line.
i've run into this a bunch of times and to me it's one of the most unreadable things. i've even seen hard wrap applied to text broken up like that.
would be really awesome if there was some tool or command invocation which could automatically fix that...

Heard #GNOME are trying to replace #Cantarell with #Inter as their default #UI #typeface?
Would hate to see Cantarell go. It has great #character, and hits some really right spots in terms of #metrics and #hinting on medium #dpi
The venerable #DejaVu and #Liberation families never really looked right for me, (and neither did #Qt's font rendering under 1080p, FWIW) - but as far as #FOSS fonts go, #Cantarell on #720p-#1440p IPS is up there with what #Georgia and #Verdana were on #480p-#600p #CRT
