my church used to have men's fishing get-togethers a few times each summer. one of the pastors' in-laws had a large pond they'd let us use. It was a great memory of mine. place was quite serene. The only time I camped was last year and it was in my car at a campground in wisconsin. I did and do, somewhat. I’ve never had it without alcohol (seems like most people don’t). I don’t like how I feel the day after, just a ~24hr mental slump that I gotta wait out.

i didnt really start til I was almost 22. on rare occasions starting at 18 my parents let me drink small amounts of wine, but I never felt it for some reason. my friend’s 21st they had fireball shooters and I sipped on one or two, again didnt feel it. after I turned 21 I would occasionally take small sips of my dad’s whiskey without him knowing but it was so strong I was deterred from having more. I didn’t start drinking for real until a friend dragged me to the bar and I reluctantly had 2 beers (which i disliked but finished to look cool). that made me actually feel drunk

When I started working in kitchens as a teenager I was taken aback they actually listened to the stuff unironically, like no matter what. It sort of perplexed me, like I thought "don't you feel like you're stereotyping yourself?" but no that's not how they feel at all. They genuinely like it. Somehow. I guess it's their equivalent of country music, which I can accept, but from my perspective it just sounds like trash and I want to never hear it again lol. Sometimes they play more modern-sounding Latin music with hip hop influences and autotune, but it's only marginally better in my view.

i never liked that bc the implications for what you’ve done are extremely fleeting, if not non-existent. like sure, you “went fishing”, but really all you did was explode a bomb next to some fish, picked them up, and CALLED it fishing. similarly in totk when you build a giant “mech” to wipe out enemy fortresses, what you really did was glue a bunch of lasers and cannons to wheels and CALLED it a mech.
but what happens after that? nothing. Link canonically does not know he is fishing, nor does he know he’s piloting a mech (he knows he’s piloting SOMETHING given they hardcoded that steering stick item, but he doesn’t know anything beyond that). it’s all these “anti-features“ like non-linearity and improvisation that make the story and characters bland, especially Link himself.
meanwhile in OoT, Link KNOWS he’s fishing because he went to the fishing hole, paid 20 rupees to hold a fishing rod, cast it, and reel in fish, even measuring their length. and not just that, there’s lore to the fishing hole where the man tells of a legendary fish thats bigger than all the others and you get a reward for catching it. I much prefer this kind of gameplay for zelda where things are explicitly stated. sandbox gameplay doesnt work for story-focused games

As a teenager I used to laugh at the idea that aliens or the Illuminati were injecting subliminal messages into movies to control the population. I would watch videos about it but I never took them seriously, it was just entertaining because the "what if?" factor tickled my brain.
When I learned about the JQ in February 2020 I felt this huge catharsis but also a sort of trauma. Like most conservatives I believed the whole American mythos about colonialism, slavery, WWII, and civil rights. My ideology was jammed up with all these notions taught in school. I may have entertained UFO conspiracy theories but I never believed them so sincerely that my worldview changed. They were more or less make-believe. But the JQ did that. It was real. And it felt like a fever dream that I couldn't wake up from.
I was living on a diverse liberal college campus at the time, and I remember walking among the students with a changed view of them. Before the JQ they were just "liberals" that had dumb ideas about race, sexuality, etc. and were taking ideas from the MLK era to their logical extremes, which I objected to. But after the JQ it was much darker. They were brainwashed NPCs who were blind to the sinister agenda they were unknowingly serving. And I couldn't help but be shocked I was actually, genuinely experiencing this "enlightenment", like a film protagonist who uncovers the villain's secret plot.

I had a guinea pig for about 2 weeks when I was 9. We had this sweet grass and I think I fed him too much. No idea why otherwise, but later that day I set him back into his cage and instead of him leaping out of my hands into the cage he basically went limp as I set him in there. I have an idea guys.
I‘m gonna open a bar called “WHITES ONLY” in big bold letters, where our signature is egg white sandwiches.
If any Jews criticise or litigate against it for hate speech, I’ll tell them the establishment name has nothing to do with race (it’s a reference to our famous sandwiches) and is protected under the first amendment.
The place will become controversial in town I’m sure, but some will be intrigued by the name and come in and chat with me. I’ll reassure them it really, truly, has nothing to do with race nor is it a reference to Jim Crow (which was disgusting) and we’re welcoming to all people. Over time we’ll build a loyal and diverse clientele I’m sure.
