With this I don't think there is much to do in any case. Maybe there are going to be improvements with FreeBSD 16.0.
Doesn't seems the game logic is slowed down, and there are no audio desynchs or distortions. It must be an issue around graphic drivers calls and the Stellaris engine that is infamous to be pointless heavy in this regards. You have some strutter also on Linux no matter how good is your machine.
In any case works without crashing.

Stellaris under GhostBSD works.
Doesn't work very well thought. 😜
No surprises, but here the good thing.
It runs under compatibility layer without no special settings.
The bad thing, the execution hiccups badly that play it means you want hurt yourself.
... but honestly I player with worse FPS in past on Linux itself.
I have the Gog version that makes it easier to set up.
Some suggestion about what to try to improve it?

If you have to deal with DRMs, anticheats, windows has less issues, and some Linux commercial ports are really trash. However, if you run something aged, Wine gives a uniform environment that runs smoother than try to patch stuff on windows itself on my experience.
FreeBSD seems offer nice performance too in various cases, but I'm going to try deeper in the close future.

I suspected that they used LLM to development, and sounds they use it for doing decompiling of what was missed in the decompiled sources around or write down some glue code, is not really specified well.
So keep an eye if something weird happens running this port.

I'm trying @npub1gcd…4j0h as browser from while, indeed is lighter as resources and the scrolling is, by default, a lot of smoother than other forks of Firefox I tried. Nice that includes also an adblock, that I pair with another privacy extension.
The only minus, it lacks of .deb packages, and I have to resort on flatpacks.
Well nothing is perfect, I guess.

Honesty, putting aside the discrimination how you run it and which datas, I think that perform a craft without learning nothing (not just programming) is a waste of energy by itself outside the result.
For fix a code, you have to know it and understand the logic. And when you learn, you can do stuff quickly.
If you think only to "make it work", you don't learn nothing and you are not able to fix it.
This mindset to put learning over plain productivity is going missing nowdays.

Which government?
Various distros are made outside US, and they abide to the laws of their country, not US ones.
Here in EU a thing as age control would be contested as a violation of Privacy laws here... despite the EU is enabling the chat control that, however, applies to internet services, not OS. But knowing how things go in EU, is all to see and there is time to torn it again.

There are different distros that have a strong stance against this kind of control, and probably stay this way because they are made outside US/EU.
Mostly these are the non-systemD ones like Devuan or Vendefoul Wolf (sets up an DE with Xlibre/OpenRC), that already this year when the California ID thing they already picked a stance to never abide it.

I spent hours today to find how run Long War Rebalanced for Xcom 1 (2012) under Linux. Digging, digging, digging, there are two installer scripts, one broken that probably turns out often with the search, and another one which works.
Working one, called usually lwr-install: https://gist.github.com/daniele-bondi/7f115d87999e9fd29b4a72d47d2574c5
Do not use the other one, usually called "install_linux.bash", it just broke the installation.
Hope it helps.

I cannot count another game that managed to do a such feat in the collective psyche of gamers for that era.
There is also Dune II: The Battle for Arrakis that made the RTS genre if you don't want a predictable answer.

This slowdown in late game is caused by the massive calculation for pops and fleets by the program. In recent updates they changed the pop system that has improved a lot the issue.
What I had instead was a noticeable stutter moving the map, also in pause, using Xorg as videoserver; this is another issue of the game itself, but Xorg made it a lot worse.
Xlibre has fix what it could, the rest is an issue of the game.
I have to record it and show the difference soon or later.

2026-07-03 03:10:29 UTC

The micro-struttering that plagues Stellaris is a much, much more contained under Xlibre.
The colors are also much better.
Still there is no way to rid it in this case, as far I know is Stellaris itself to strutter badly as way the game engine works.
Whatever you use Wayland or Xlibre, the best you can do is just minimize them.
And space dinos. yay. 😛
I want to try if I can run it under Freebsd when I have time.

You know, that with me you end to swim in this kind of stuff... :guilded_doge:
The characters are silly, but the story itself is enjoyable.
The game is mostly story driven, you have minigames and such, but in the demo these are very easy. They are more story device which you use to befriend or antagonize some characters, like you can sabotage their stuff to get a reaction from them.
I can recommend to check the demo if you seek an some kind of adventure game, than a challenge.

The issue, probably, would be a very low fps, that is more a proof of concept than playable in a way most would bear; expect if you are able to handle the FPS of 3d solid games for 8bits that is counted on the fingers of an hand. :P

The C128 VDC is a funny thing. Is a commodore clone of a CGA pc card, and has its own internal memory, that also the main machine "doesn't see" and is served only by the VDC chip itself.
This memory can also be expanded on any C128 with appropriate kit. With the max expansion it can reach some crazy resolution, up to 800x600 monocrome in some demo.

- Twitter Delete Script: https://github.com/MadeXel/Tweet-Delete-Script.V1/blob/main/asahi-tweet-dm-delete.script.js
- TweetXter: https://github.com/lucahammer/tweetXer/blob/main/tweetXer.js
Keep in mind, if you have a lot of stuff, you have need to do repeated runs and ask the archive multiple times, because that platform is technically a mess that isn't able to find your data in a single query.

I'm still like a lot more IRC than more modern stuff, really. Despite it doesn't support embedds, it has a lot of flexibility (you can use encryption, switch nick is a lot easier, no need to registration, ecc) and the IRC bots offers a lot of powerful options.

Some days ago it was published the teaser of Sonic 4. Not really much is still know about it: Amy Rose and Metal Sonic are taking their turn, and Jim Carrey is back for the role of Dr. Eggman.

It titled Slayers. The manga was publeshed back in the 90's and seems still going on.
It has some anime series made in the half of 90's and various OAV done later.
Didn't got a chance to watch it for real but soon or later I should do it.
Fun fact: the Italian VA of the main character, Lina Inverse, was the same that dubbed Twilight Sparkle in the italian dub of FiM 🤣

The most interesting thing: it uses an early ARM chip, the same platform that today powered your smartphone, Raspberry and many other low-power or portable device.

Hm... I have to concede that at least the AMD Wraith Prism/Max were good, thought you found these only on the high end AMD cpus and it wasn't the ideal here there, the fan spins quite loud. For normal usage is ok, but not if you want push it the best.
I guess is more than sufficient for an 65TDP CPU like the ryzen 3/5.
Is not something I would mount on a 5900, but doesn't let it cook the cpu either like others.

Pretty cool shooter of the early Windows times, the software rendering worked nicely also with low-end spec machines and without need a graphic cards.
The archimedes and 3do versions are better, thought.

Replace the stock cooler with anything third part usually is a good idea, even when the third part is cheap. Stock cooler helped to cut costs to end user, but their performance is pretty much the absolute bare minimum for not let your pc cook at the first peak of activity; still their performance is beated badly from everything around there.
They are still good for emergency or if you have nothing else to mount on the pc while you get a replacement.

I think Beamdog took most of these RPGs and released back on today platform. On GOG and Steam should be found often very cheap.

There are both Amiga AGA and OCS versions of Jurassic Park, but I find the graphical differences are very little, mostly on menus.

Unfortunately Invidious shrunk down just three or four instances, and those have some difficult to works sometimes.
The only reliable enough today seems https://inv.nadeko.net/
You can check the instance list on the project page: https://docs.invidious.io/instances/

Into the Eagle Nest was a nice Gauntlet clone. The conversions are all quite good, I found the C64 the better one overall.

Working in those things must had been a torture. Actors were able to wear them just for 15 minutes before the heat became unbearable.

In the days of old when knights were bold
And women weren't invented
All the men played Virgin games
And ended up demented!
TIME TO WAKE UP!

I miss these games that had little sense but tried to do something nobody ever made before; even when they failed, they did something unique.

I think Bart vs. the Space Mutants is the only that was converted for home computers by Ocean. They did a nice job with many of these, thought the game itself isn't the best I saw around.

Hi!
I'm a retrogamer from old time, grew up with 8 and 16 bit stuff and played with arcades when these were still new, and I was looking for an instance around my passion.
I post both in English and Italian, but expect mostly English here. I plan a different account for the Italian.
Also, my second passion are anthro animals, expect also a lot of stuff related to animals and anthros here.
