(Systemd laying the ground work is pretty worrying, I wasn't against Systemd until now, but I feel like it might be better to get out, and use some Systemd-free distros, will look at the options out there. Artix openly opposing and doing nothing is good to see, hopefully Devuan, Gentoo, Alpine, Slackware, etc. will do the same, although if a specific distro implements it, it will probably be relatively easy to remove it, Ageless Linux is pretty likely to provide some useful instructions for it, the Systemd thing is more worrying though.)
(Surprised about Kicksecure/Whonix, it's a distro which is used by people with especially high threat model, so implementing the age verification crap probably defeats the whole purpose of the distro.)
(I'll probably also download binaries for the programs I use, just in case Flathub also decides to comply with the App Store Accountability Act. It sucks pretty much that most programs don't have a built-in update mechanism, have to rely on package managers (except for Brave and a few others). It can also be pretty bad for YouTube frontends/downloaders like FreeTube and yt-dlp which break pretty often, quickly become unusable if they can't be updated... And of course, using a browser without updates is also a huge security risk.)
(Might be useful to download some webpages too, before they start requesting the age bracket.)

I regenerated the CSS cheatsheets with the new page-builders tool, to improve the consistency of the cheatsheets and discover some more cases I which weren't handled yet in page-builders (e.g. unordered list conversion, link pointing to another cheatsheet, comma in cheatsheet title, etc.), and I also corrected a few mistakes in the cheatsheets which somehow I didn't notice earlier (e.g. a section missing from the online and Markdown version of the CSS Selectors Cheatsheet, but included in the ODT version). @nprofile…7mp5 I didn't say we have to comply, as I said, they can't enforce it on all the thousands of volunteer distro maintainers anyways. They just think they can, because they are a bunch of boomers who don't know how Linux and FOSS works.
I mean you can of course do what every content creator says that you write a letter to authorities and express your disagreement, but they will push it through anyways because they want full control over us, want total surveillance. Delaying compliance won't help much here. The best thing we can do is to look for alternative ways to protect our privacy, like finding a distro which doesn't comply

(Seems like a new era has begun, even Linux isn't fully immune to the invasion of digital freedom, but we're fine for the most part, we can just lie about our age because we aren't required to provide photo ID or selfie unlike on some of the normie platforms. And even if another law comes out requiring Linux too to ask for a personal id, they can't do much to actually enforce it on the thousands of volunteers)
(Flathub and Snap Store having to comply is a much bigger deal though, since those are corporate entities (or at least it's planned to become one in case of Flathub, I wonder if they still stick to their plans after all of this), they might actually be forced, to query age brackets from the OS for now, but pretty likely to ask for photo ID or selfie in the future when the other age verification laws currently pending (Texas, New York, Brazil, Canada, etc.) will be accepted. Of course, it can also be circumvented by using the repos of a distro which doesn't comply, download app binaries from source code repo Releases page, compiling from source (at least from repos hosted on Codeberg, GitHub/Microsoft might comply), downloading from AppImageHub (which is community-maintained afaik) etc., but it still sucks to lose two of the largest software repos (even if I'm not a fan of Snap Store and Snap in general for "ideological" reasons))

I just developed a todo app in Qt, called Burner Todo, which lets you create temporary todos, which can be wiped out with a press of a button (Kaboom!), and also when you close the program (default setting, which can be changed). It's like a burner phone, but in a todo app form (hence the name) lol
Other features include editing and deleting a todo, which you would probably expect from a todo app. There are also some settings to toggle delete, kaboom and quit confirmation, and whether to wipe out todos on quit or not (todos are saved to a local database regardless, and aren't wiped out if the program isn't closed properly, e.g. if the system crashes, so the todos aren't lost).
The program is available for Linux as a raw binary, AppImage and Flatpak, and all of these can also be built manually, using the instructions in the repo's README.
The code is written in Python, but compiled into C, to have a better performance, smaller size.

(Oh no, why the heck they want another legal trouble? I mean, it sounds good for the users, but it gives a reason to authorities to mess with them, and potentially sue them into bankruptcy, like they already did with their parent company, LBRY. Of course, NewPipe, Invidious, FreeTube, etc. do the same, but those are community projects, can't be attacked that easily, and even if they can be, they don't have that much to lose. In contrast, Odysee is a company, which employs people, who have to make a living. Also, it's a separate platform, which will be lost, if they lose the lawsuit (which is pretty likely, because authorities don't give a crap about digital freedom, only about the big corps' business, they don't consider YouTube datamining people a crime, but they do consider companies "hurting" big tech, see the YouTube Vanced case))
(And tbh, I personally prefer to watch YouTube videos without tying my watch history into an online account, FreeTube already offers a really solid experience)

Although messages of most rooms are scanned anyways because most people use the Matrix.org homeserver. XMPP is probably a better option in this regard, because it has no single large instance, so even if one provider complies, there's a smaller chance that one of their users is in a group chat

@nprofile…r9sn yeah of course the best option would be a completely independent browser. Actually there are some forked browser engines like QtWebEngine (from Chromium) used by Falkon, Angelfish, Konqueror and Otter, and Goanna (from Mozilla's Gecko) used by Pale Moon (and maybe Basilisk?), and WebKitGTK (from Apple's WebKit) used by GNOME Web, and a few minimalist, keyboard-driven ones, which have less reliance on Google/Mozilla/Apple. WebKitGTK has basically the same website compatibility as the original WebKit, and the latest 2-3 versions of QtWebEngine also have a really solid website compatibility, can be used as daily driver (except for Otter which uses an outdated version), if you don't mind having a bit less privacy controls and extensions for those browsers. I already considered switching to Falkon, but due to the lack of extensions I just stayed on LibreWolf (and sometimes Brave for sites which require a Chromium-based browser)
Also, there are completely independent experimental ones like Ladybird and the Servo-based Servoshell and Verso, they already have a decent website compatibility (not as good as QtWebEngine yet, although Ladybird is getting close). Ladybird's first alpha will come next year.
There are also NetSurf and Dillo but those are just for some minimal websites, because they have really limited HTML, CSS and JavaScript support (in fact, Dillo doesn't have JS support at all afaik)

@nprofile…r9sn LibreWolf is probably the best option imo. It's dependent on Mozilla, but cuts out all the spyware and Mozilla account stuff.
As for custom roms, yeah seeing Google's moves, the best long term option will be Linux. Android Translation Layer is on the way, which can run Android apps in an (almost) native level on Linux, without running a full Android system. It's still experimental, only supports a few apps, but lets hope that AOSP based systems will stick until that

I'd like to switch over to another Matrix homeserver from Matrix.org because of their new policy of scanning messages due to the Online "Safety" Act, but seems like I can't find any instance where I can successfully register (they either throw Internal Server Error, closed registrations, or generate invalid email verification link), or at least among those which have a Privacy Policy and seem trustworthy (yes, the majority of homeservers don't even have a Privacy Policy lol). I already looked at around 80-100 homeservers, inluding Unredacted, NitroChat, Bladerunn.in, Discuss.online, Thisisjoes.site and others with no luck.
Do you know any good homeservers which have a (reasonable) Privacy Policy and accept registrations? Would love to see some recommendations

I've heard an EDM song many years ago (more than 5), it's a fairly popular one with 10M+ views you YouTube, if I remember correctly. It's a Big Room track I think, with female vocal, some Hardstyle beat at the end in the extended version. The drops remind me of Showtek songs, but he isn't the artist of this song. The name of the artist contains some animal (maybe bee? or cat?).
It also has a video clip with some car chase at the middle of a desert, there's also a city at the middle of a desert.
I have forgotten this song for a while, somehow it came into my mind recently, but I forgot both the artist and the title, and also the whole lyrics 😂
