Het is juist goed dat de parkeerkosten omhooggaan, om zo, hopelijk, de geparkeerde auto’s wat meer te spreiden; je parkeert waar het het goedkoopste is, indien mogelijk uiteraard. Het mag van mij nóg duurder. En bescherm stoepen beter tegen oprijdende auto’s. Daarnaast zou je bewoners met een uitkering of minimumloon deels moeten compenseren als ze echt gebruik moeten maken van een auto in deze buurt.

De auto-overlast in de Vogelbuurt is groot. Er wordt hard gereden (vooral omgeving Zwanenplein) en auto’s staan lange tijd geparkeerd met draaiende motor, bijna tegen de huizen aan. De stoep wordt vaak gebruikt als keerpunt, wat inhoudt dat je de hele dag auto’s tot een paar centimeter tegen je gevel aan hebt.
Er moet juist méér worden gehandhaafd. Voor veel bewoners met een benedenwoning is het soms gewoon niet leuk meer. Denk eens aan een mooie zomerse dag waarop je de ramen heerlijk openzet, om meteen (in je eigen huis) een hap benzinerook in te ademen, omdat er weer een aso voor je deur staat."

More discrimination reports, most about Wilders; Anti-Semitism also "alarmingly" high
Last year, there were again more reports of discrimination. The vast majority of the reports were due to an X post by Geert Wilders, according to a study by two anti-discrimination organizations, which they will present to Minister Pieter Heerma of Home Affairs today. The number of anti-Semitism reports is also “alarmingly high,” the National Coordinator against Anti-Semitism said.
The discrimination figures come from regional anti-discrimination organizations, Meld.Online Discriminatie, and the police.
Regional anti-discrimination organizations received over 25,000 reports last year. Of them, over 14,000 were about Wilders’ post in August. A major oil spill in the port of Antwerp, triggered during refueling of the container ship MSC Denmark VI, has spread across the Scheldt estuary and contaminated protected nature reserves in Zeeland, with cleanup operations expected to take weeks, authorities and conservation groups said.

Landbouwpesticiden verhogen kankerkans met 150 procent

Weinig jazzpianisten zijn zo invloedrijk geweest als de tachtigjarige Keith Jarrett. Zijn wereldberoemde live-plaat The Köln Concert uit 1975 is het bestverkochte soloalbum ooit in de jazzmuziek. Daarop is alles te horen wat Jarrett zo bijzonder maakt: de passie in zijn spel, de invloeden uit de gospel en klassieke muziek en de dynamische ritmes die hij met zijn linkerhand tevoorschijn tovert.
Helaas werd die befaamde linkerhand in 2018 het zwijgen opgelegd door twee beroertes: Jarrett raakte halfzijdig verlamd. Met zijn rechterhand kan hij na jaren revalideren weer spelen, maar Jarrett noemt zichzelf geen volwaardig pianist meer. Waarschijnlijk zal hij nooit meer optreden.
Toch leeft Jarretts muziek deze week in het Muziekgebouw aan ’t IJ en in TivoliVredenburg. De Amerikaanse band The Bad Plus, een van de grootste namen in de hedendaagse jazz, brengt daar een ode aan Jarrett. Saxofonist Branford Marsalis ging hen afgelopen jaar voor door Jarretts album Belonging integraal te coveren.

Een Duitse kunstenaar is in Rusland tot een jarenlange gevangenisstraf veroordeeld omdat hij de Russische president Poetin op een paar carnavalswagens als karikatuur had afgebeeld. Opvallend detail: de wagens waren niet te zien in Rusland, maar reden rond bij de carnavalsoptocht in het Duitse Düsseldorf.
De kunstenaar, de 62-jarige Jacques Tilly, is nu door de rechtbank in Moskou veroordeeld tot een gevangenisstraf van 8,5 jaar. Moskou beschuldigt hem van het verspreiden van desinformatie over het leger en het beledigen van gelovigen.

Wanneer reizigers valse of misleidende informatie aan de autoriteiten verstrekken kunnen ze een gevangenisstraf van drie jaar en een boete van 55.000 euro krijgen. A British court has heard evidence that the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) “misled” its audience during the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip.
The evidence was presented as part of documents in a case being heard by a UK employment tribunal, in which five journalists of Arab origin accuse the BBC of discrimination and of unfairly dismissing four of them for refusing what they described as racist and discriminatory practices within BBC Arabic service.
The five complainants are Ahmed Rouaba, of Algerian origin; Dima Odeh, of Syrian origin; Nahed Najar, of Palestinian origin; and Mohamed El-Ashiry and Amer Sultan, both of Egyptian origin. The claimants are represented in the case by John Barnes from Albertson Solicitors. This is the first case of its kind brought by this number of journalists from the Arabic of the BBC Service of World Service against the long-standing news corporation.

The Government’s adoption of a definition of anti-Muslim hostility is a welcome acknowledgement of a real and persistent problem of hostility towards Muslims. Although the wording may not have been universally accepted, it offers guidance to institutions to tackle alarming levels of anti-Muslim sentiments. Its value, however, will depend on how it is applied. It should encourage reflection among public figures and institutions about the impact of their words and actions. Such a definition does not shield ideas from criticism, nor does it introduce blasphemy laws by stealth, as some claim. It draws a necessary distinction between critique of the faith and the targeting of people because of their faith.

AI is inmiddels zo’n beetje overal, en straks zelfs in de oren van de persoon die je hamburger klaarmaakt. Bij Burger King krijgen medewerkers namelijk een AI-assistent in hun headset die continu meeluistert. Niet alleen om te helpen bij het maken van burgers, maar ook om te checken of ze wel lief zijn voor de klant.
Het systeem heeft zelfs een naam gekregen. De persoonlijke assistent voor het Burger King-personeel gaat onder de toepasselijke naam “Patty” door het leven en maakt deel uit van een breder platform dat Burger King intern inzet om personeel te ondersteunen bij hun werk en om de service te verbeteren.
De nieuwe AI-assistent is dus niet bedoeld voor klanten. Jouw bestelling gaat nog gewoon op de menselijke manier, maar met als verschil dat de persoon tegenover je ook een AI-stemmetje in zijn of haar hoofd heeft. Patty werkt namelijk via de headsets die medewerkers al dragen.

@nprofile…xg5d @nprofile…5dx2 Ik bedoelde met beklonken het misverstand over CryptPad en Nextcloud waar ik zelf van in de war raakte. 🤔
CryptPad gebruikt trouwens Onlyoffice voor het spreadsheet deel. En CryptPad.fr krijgt volgens mij, hun blog lezende, voorrang bij nieuwe features en de makers zullen natuurlijk zorgen dat daar alles goed loopt. Als je een andere CryptPad instance gebruikt dan kan het zijn dat je een oudere versie gebruikt. Ik begreep dat CryptPad vier keer per jaar een nieuwe versie uitbrengt. In Januari wil men de Winter 2025 versie uitbrengen.
Ik gebruik zelf nooit spreadsheets maar misschien dat de spreadsheet in Nextcloud Office, met Collabora Online dus, je beter bevalt ?

Als ik zoek dan zie ik dat er een Nextcloud app is die Cryptpad gebruikt maar tot dusver alleen voor diagrammen. Ik ben wel bekend met Nextcloud en Office achtige oplossingen als enerzijds Nextcloud Office dus met Collabora Online of anderzijds Onlyoffice. I guess this must be the "most powerful" move that the Zionist Starmer regime has made in their desperate moves to keep the next elections win by Farage's ReformUK at, let's say, reasonable winning numbers.

I fear that it will go the same as in the Netherlands where one fascist party, PVV, became the biggest in November 2023, after which till now it escalated in two parties swinging towards extreme-right (VVD and BBB) while two other fascist parties (Ja21 and FvD) did pretty well. Ja21 went from 1 to 9 seats in the October 2025 elections. PVV, a non democratic one man show "party", had almost 1 point 7 million people voting for its leader, the paranoid and xenophobic and islam-hater Geert Wilders.
But not only that, mainstream media and Dutch TV is full of fear for anything that sounds left or progressive, and it just continues with its self censuring attitude.
Lobby group appear to be strong and influential.
It is painful and stressful experience to me that fascism has been normalized in NL.

For the UK I hope that Zack Polanski will make a difference with the Green Party of UK and Wales but I fear that lobby groups and the "sort of deep state" will make an attempt to have the UK stick to its conservative, pro-capitalism, pro-Israel and maybe even pro-USA stance.

If you want something just for your family and friends, #XMPP is very light weight, can be run via Yunohost, and can do video and audio chat as well. It does have a slight learning curve, but if you stick to Conversations IM (Android) and Siskin (Apple) as mobile clients you may have a pretty good experience. NOS in NL basically have helped Wilders' PVV to win the November 2023 elections. Like showing fascist Wilders in a children programs being friendly with cats in a cat asylum. And the fear against anything that is "left" or "woke" (Accelerated by decades of propaganda via the "holy" USA) is getting stronger. It's time to speak up, again and again.
