google in general doesn’t support multi-lingual people in YouTube at all. Once your UI language doesn't match the language of the video, you are going to have to manually turn subtitles etc off - every single time.

I suppose I should have mentioned @npub1z7x…q5jf (just re-watched the video on cycle infrastructure in Swiss cities a couple of days back). The Stadttunnel https://www.stadt-zuerich.ch/de/mobilitaet/velo/velomassnahmen/stadttunnel.html at least moves things in the right direction.

I would note that I'm coming from a slightly different position on that.
The point that is important to me is that interactions with the #OpenStreetMap ecosystem as a rule shouldn't require creating additional accounts and exposing PI to third parties for "regular" contributors.
That includes not only interacting with software developers/projects but most other community interactions too (chat, forum etc).
That's why using codeberg doesn't really help.

you literally just have to look up SWIFT and Russia in Wikipedia, and there is no "already" about it that was three years ago.

PS: in practical terms though companies will not circumvent US sanctions even if they are not locally legally required to follow them. For example codeberg needs a payment processor that will deal with them, zero chance of that if you are violating US sanctions.

isn't the shutdown due to sanctions against RU / individuals that are connected with sanctioned RU entities?
Self hosting or going somewhere else doesn't really fix that because you are always going to be dependent on somebody that is required to follow them (not touching on the subject if you should even want to circumvent sanctions in this case).

not for the first time:
@npub1mtr…trt0 is a, very, opinionated build service for users that are ideologically aligned with them (think RMS). If they want to run that and there's a user base that wants to use it, more power to them.
BUT assuming that it is a general purpose app store is just going to lead to endless conflict on both sides.
Unluckily F-Droid is not clear about that -they- are publishing the apps and are responsible for the content and operations, not the app devs. ...
