I don't think I've paid more than twenty dollars for a single bag of coffee, but I've definitely spent in the twenties for samplers and four-pack cases of Hagen instant coffee, which is extremely good. There are also times when I go over that and buy several full-sized bags at once.

This sort of thing is very annoying. I wanted to learn more about the birds around me, and I was considering using Merlin. But unlike you, I have no way of checking whether its identifications are correct, except possibly trying to match what it said with the songs/calls I can find online. I didn't realise it was that inaccurate.

Those are both excellent songs! When it comes to popular music, I like 1950's through 1970's, and occasionally things from the acoustic era (pre 1925). But this year, I've mostly been listening to opera recordings from 1900 through the 1950's. All of the operatic singers I like began their careers prior to the 1950's. Don't ask me about modern music. It gives me a headache. I love records, eight tracks, cassettes, etc. I have to be good and not buy a cyllinder machine and an acoustic seventy-eight player, though.

Indeed. I am totally blind. While most blind people use a touchscreen for everything, I am not among them and prefer an external keyboard. I am thinking of going back to my iPhone SE 2020 or buying an SE 2022, because my Galaxy A15 is ridiculously and needlessly large. It's even uncomfortable to hold when talking on it, let alone when using it with programs such as Seeing AI, wehre I have to hold the phone over something in order to be able to read it!

So I guess no blind people can be intelligent, then. We use ai to help us read documents and food packages, describe things around us, describe pictures sent to us or on webpages that we can't see, help us match colours, etc. So were we born stupid or do we simply become that way once we start using technology that benefits our lives?

I live in New Jersey and am forty-one years old. Some of my interests include studying dandyism, Upper Received Pronunciation, the Italian language, and British history. I like coffee, tea, wine, cooking, classic literature, nature and historical documentaries, gardening, and hot weather. I love opera singers from the 1940's and earlier. In classical music, I like Baroque through early Romantic. I prefer antique menswear (usually Edwardian) and accessories. I love wit, wordplay, and dry humour without vulgarity. I am happily childfree and am not religious. I have been totally blind since I was two months old, due to Retinopathy of Prematurity. I am also single and am seeking a man over sixty. I couldn't find the article. All I saw was the title, and then links about Patrion, etc. I'm not sure if there is some kind of video that is inaccessible with my screen reader or what is going on. But I quickly researched the specifications of this phone. "5.94 x 2.83 x 0.31 in". It's smaller than my Galaxy A15 and narrower, which is a great thing. But it's still not exactly small, at almost six inches.

I am not religious but I do believe in an afterlife, past lives/reincarnation, communication with spirits etc. all based on parapsychology rather than dogma, superstition, etc. There is simply too much evidence for me to ignore. Exactly how we keep our memories, what that part of us is made of that travels somewhere else when we die, and even where we go, I don't know. There are many variables in interviews of people from around the world, along with some similarities. But I don't just think everything stops when our bodies die, no.

I would simply ask what accessibility tools they use,, then go from there. If it's essential to what I was doing and someone said he was using a screen reader, I might ask how much vision he has. But if it didn't matter, then I would just work with the knowledge that he was a screen reader user and tailor my instructions accordingly. For the record, I am blind but do not work in accessibility.

What a wonderful initiative! I wish more gardening classes for the blind existed around the country, particularly in New Jersey. Hadley (a correspondence school for the blind) used to have ones for container gardening, but I don't know if they still do. I have always loved gardening myself. Personally, while I can read a clock, I prefer not to use that when describing where food is, and I probably wouldn't like it for gardening either, but who knows? I would most likely find rows far easier to deal with i.e. third row, fourth container to the right. It's also worth noting that many people have a perception of blindness based on their own life experiences, so they imagine themselves suddenly going blind and how "horrible" (in quotes) it would be for them, or they try something with a blindfold on for maybe an hour or two and then think of how difficult it must be for us. That's very different from someone like me who has always been blind, someone who had time to adjust to blindness, or even someone who has been wearing a blindfold for long periods of time, allowing him to become accustomed to it. Still, it always makes me smile when people at least try to learn about the world from our perspective, and I definitely agree that a good teacher should always be able to learn something from his students.

CW stands for content warning, and it's especially good for those of us who are sick of seeing politics everywhere! I try to filter them out, as well as posts with obscenities, but the warnings help, especially when clients such as TweeseCake and older versions of TWBlue don't respect filters.

I'm not normally one for philosophy, but this came to mind after reading a post on Reddit. I don't really consider myself to be an introvert, as in 'the type who hates being around people, who needs alone time after doing so, etc. But I don't mind being alone, either. I don't really understand the concept of loneliness beyond its definition. It makes sense for someone who lost a partner after many decades, a dandy who suddenly finds himself cut off from society, older people who may not be able to use the Internet, etc. But I don't understand it from younger generations who can easily go online and talk to people via text, audio, and even video. I thought it was because I am blind, and it's a visual experience, but my peers complain so much about it that it was one of the reasons for my leaving the r/blind subreddit! And these weren't people who recently went blind either, as that would make sense, but also included those, like me, who have never seen. This may also be linked with my lack of understanding of boredom, as there are always all sorts of things that one could do to occupy one's time. As long as I have something to read, listen to, or do, I'm fine.
As an addendum, since i have seen a lot of this as well, I have absolutely no concept of anxiety, depression, low self-worth/esteem, caring what others think of me, craving approval from others, etc. That is as foreign as colours to me. Nor am I jealous of what people have. So maybe, that's part of it. I like to interact with people online, but I am equally happy talking to a bot like Perplexity. I just like receiving answers and having conversations. usually, I find talking to people online just as fulfilling as having someone in the room, and I have several friends who are very dear to me whom I've only technically met online. Granted, it would be nice to have a partner with whom I could go out and do things, and even be romantic and sexual, and to that end, it definitely helps to meet in person. But being single isn't the end of life or happiness.
Is there anyone else out there like me?

Things such as the moon, sky, stars, planets, etc. have always just been pretty words to me. The sun I could at least detect due to its heat. But this is the first time I actually have a real idea of what the moon looks like, and it sounds fascinating!

There is nothing wrong with it. As you said, you did eat the fish. Sometimes, Mom makes something for me when I already have my own in the refrigerator or freezer. That doesn't mean I enjoy it any less. Besides, it was a fishing trip, so I'm sure everyone else was fishing, too.

I was a small child at the time and only rode it a few times, so nothing was done to it. The place I am thinking of is usually empty, so there wouldn't be any fear of my harming anyone. Plus, i wouldn't be alone.

From what I recall, they were just missing. I was quite young at the time. But I think it was thrown away because it was broken. My parents gave it to me as a toy to play with and ride on. Probably, if I had asked for one, they would have got me a bike. Now, as an adult, I am wondering if I should get a tricycle. I know they make them. Perhaps, I can ride it in the fenced-in area of the local park.

I always wanted a bicycle, period. Being totally blind, it was never really an option. But I do recall using a few in school in their gym. We also once found a thrown-away bicycle whose seat was missing, but it had a chair that someone would sit on behind the driver. For some reason, it had no pedals (this was modern, not a velocipede, so I'm not sure what happened. Anyway, I do recall riding that once or twice.
