People are very upset about Trump spending $ 100 million building a Triumphal Arch in the only OECD country which does not yet offer universal healthcare to its citizens. I have not yet finalized my view on this matter, but it comes down to this:
If Trump can roll wheelchair with a terminally sick cancer patient through the arch, and that cures the patient, then I am all for it.

Trump has already put 26 percent tariffs on European steel and aluminum, and he is now adding a 25 percent tariff on European cars and car parts.
I believe, this will continue until Canada, the UK, and the EU introduces a musketeer oath (one for all), so when Trump hits one of us with tariffs, we all hit back with the exact same tariffs.
If Trump knew, that his 25 percent car tariffs would immediately result in the same tariffs on US car exports to Canada, UK, and EU, he would not even try.

Putin has requested a ceasefire on May 9, where he will be celebrating Russia’s WWII related Victory Day.
Putin is relentlessly bombing civilians in Ukraine 7 days a week, but on the day where he plans to have a large, concentrated troop presence in Moscow, he thinks it is only fair, if Ukraine agreed not to attack his soldiers.

Since taking office, Trump reduced US Ukraine aid to $0, but in December, Congress authorized a new $400 million aid package for the country.
Always siding with Putin, the Trump regime then blocked that $400 million from leaving Washington. But Wednesday, Republican Mitch McConnell wrote an op-ed in Washington Post asking hard questions about that, and — voila — now the funds have magically been “unblocked”, writes Kyiv Post.

Since 1965, section 2 of the US Voting Rights Act has protected minorities against being Gerrymandered to oblivion by racist politicians who want to redraw election maps in such a way that black people cannot win elections.

I have found a bug, which I want to make sure you are aware of.
At least once a day, I see double notifications, where the same notification appears twice in my notifications list.
This happens both when using Mastodon through Ivory (picture 1), and through the Mastodon web interface (picture 2), so this is clearly a server side issue.
I think this has been happening since at least the end of 2025, because I reported it to Ivory months ago.
Not a showstopper, but still annoying.

The central bank of Denmark, Nationalbanken, today announced its new offline payment system which means Danes will be able to pay digitally at the store — even when the internet is down.
This means both credit card payments and cellphone payments go through at the counter up to 7 days into an internet breakdown, because of a new technological solution which is being rolled out at grocery stores first.

This past week I have been talking to surprisingly many people who are really worn down by the world situation.
It feels like we had a normal world prior to COVID-19, and ever since we have had chaos. From COVID to the Ukraine war to Trump's reelection to a NATO crisis to now an Iran war and an energy crisis.

During these searches, the police writes down their phones' unique International Mobile Equipment Identity number to log their real identity and this number in a database. Many are asking me to put my videos on PeerTube, but every time I look at it, I see an overly technical user experience that I do not trust to take off.

Without congressional approval, Trump chose to attack Iran on February 28. This means Trump has 60 days to complete his unauthorized military action in Iran as defined in the U.S. War Powers Resolution of 1973.
February 28 plus 60 days sets the deadline to April 29.
This means, Trump has 24 days left. Obviously, a criminal president will not pay attention to this, but since the war is so unpopular, Congress could use the deadline to force an end to the Iran mess.
