Part of the problem we have today is a lack of empathy for those we disagree with. A demonization of those who do not align with our paradigms.
You are a more nuanced person then just your political belief.
We must start seeing each others as people with real dreams and fears and stop letting talking heads tell us who we should hate.

I have been battling with Social Security for disability for over 7 years for mental illness. I've written my Senator and Congressmen. My amazing psychiatrist wrote a 2 page letter on my behalf. I use to pull back to back 16 hour shifts in one of the business hospitals in NYC. If I could work, I would work. I love this country despite its faults but tonight it just feels like its failed me. I feel defeated.

I find myself longing for the past and fearing the future but working really hard to appreciate the present.
Battling #bipolar has changed me in many ways. I often wonder if I am even recognizable to those who knew me before my breakdown. I'd like to think my heart has only grown with empathy for those who battle mental illness.

In my ongoing journey to be fully transparent with my mental health journey I just recently started going to a partial program. A special thank you to the people at DBSA Boston for being so vulnerable and sharing their experiences on partials. I've got to tell you the people and staff at my program are pretty awesome. I was terrified to go at first but I am very happy I did.
The more light we can bring to mental health care and awareness the faster we break the stigma.

Be there for last rights, For guidance on what to do next, for goodbyes.
At first it spooked me, then I started to understand how privileged of a position it was.
