y'alls got any tasty, simple recipes?
or like, recipe frameworks, kinda like how sheet pan meals can be generalized into protein, starch, veg, bake
kinda interested in messing about with something different and i've not really got any ideas :p

so, that experiment has concluded
tabasco classic recipe as lube.. ow
like, you start off and like ok, not so bad, little warm
and then it keeps getting hotter
and hotter
hotter still
till you can’t keep the motions happening anymore
and you're laughing in pain
tried to keep going for just a liitle longer and noped out
in the shower
water of normal warmth is so gosh darned hot
cooling, rinsing it off, washing it
doesn't help
opted to give oil a go (i keep some coconut oil in the bathroom for my hair ^^)
that helped, not fixed, but helped
actually managed to get to the point of.. ahem..
but even now, it's still burning a bit... the oil only really turned the intensity down, not really canceled the sensation
but yeah, lesson learned - capsaicin and the nether regions don't play nice
painful, to be sure, but still not quite to my limits of pain(?)
i do wonder how much pain it takes to black out from it
i wonder what my limits actually are
all that of course with the caveat of not being permanently damaged, pain can be fun, hospitalization is not

things learned from the #gpn crowd:
simply logging one's substance use does not make it responsible substance use
"chaos" events relying on fomo and exclusivity for attention are leaning on capitalistic tricks and are thusly not about chaos
relying on fomo and exclusivity in that way only hurts those that really want to join, but can’t for some reason or other (not that i'd want to, personally.. infectious diseases are a nah for me)
events like this can be fantastic for socialization, especially in crowds that wouldn't see heaps of it typically.. but the way the ccc folks handle it.. it's not quite right
realistically they should be having more, smaller events that end up not being super exclusive or like, enabling more remote engagement.. that sort of thing
you're allegedly hackers dang it, hackers should seek to make things better, not worse
anyway, that's enough #gpn thinking from me, back to chilling at #notgpn :3

kinda fucked up how
we can go to work
do our absolute best
making number go up
probably for someone we don't know or care about
and still get told to go faster
work harder
still do our best
and still get fired
just lose our job on a whim
not necessarily even by the one at the top
circumstances outside our control
still fired
still lose it all
now, i'm ok, i haven't been fired
but, i was thinking back, on amazon, when i worked for them
all the trainings... even got wrote up once for poor performance
while it wouldn't mattered so much to have lost my job then
i kinda bring that situation forward to now and like... it's bad
awful sweatshop that place was, thinking back on it
and like, most physical labor positions aren't much better from what i've observed...
i can't speak for mental labor positions... but i can't imagine it's much better...
the systems we've got in place are just... so fucked up
"don't do these things because you want to, do them because you'll literally die if you don't"...

i suppose that makes the selfhosting point of it make sense too
get a cheap spinning rust vps with bucketloads of storage, just run minio or something and point all your services at it... think i kinda get the point now ^^

so like, what is the point of s3 anyway?
is it just to be able to get more iops at the cost of latency?
cause i'm noticing that just about every service i've set up in a long time supports it and i suppose i'm just kinda struggling to figure out why you'd want it over local disk storage
bit like sqlite vs a database server? only reason i can see for wanting a database server is to put it on a different machine, but like, we've already got a half dozen different protocols for network storage, what does s3 do that those don't?
