I wonder how we avoided this issue with cochlear implants? They're similar in the sense of being devices that are manufactured privately, that people rely on, and in sure various manufacturers have gone under over the years, but I've never heard of someone being unable to get their cochlear implant fixed.
Might be a useful model to regulate the industry.

Agreed! I spent years thinking I should go veggie or vegan but never managing it because it was too big a step. Realistically I've rarely got things done in life in one big step. So eventually I figured out that I can just reduce how much meat and animal products I eat.
I'm already lactose intolerant so dairy was sorted. For a while I had a great butcher who only sourced meat from local, traditional farms. Now I mostly reserve meat for special occasions. It all helps.

The employers should (I know, I know) be doing the policing - especially as some portion of workers are probably being paid less than minimum wage if their actual hours are taken into account.

They've definitely lifted a real template, but there are other red flags - HMRC letters always include a tax identification number (NINo, UTR, company number etc), and they would have no reason to request documents they already have access to e.g. filed accounts and director ID.
It's a convincing fraud though, and unfortunately it will probably fool a lot of people.

I would be extraordinarily sceptical of any reports of black and Asian people committing violence that have come out of far right telegram channels, even if they do come with videos that aren't immediately obviously fake
