picking on the diversity is an easy low hanging fruit, the real issue is a lack of distinct characters. everyone is just "snarky outlaw dude", even if they have nuanced differences they all fall under the same unoffensive archetype.
just watch a TF2 trailer and see how the characters interact, the whole vibe is so much wider range

i think nintendo is very capable of being tone deaf and fumble a console release.
could they not do the PS5 thing? like they know everyone has their big library, and think they can count on the first year being light because "hey you already have your old games they look better on the new $400 tablet".
idk, i just can't see how retreading switch 1 would make sense now that we have context and access to the previous library. besides new IP (remember Arms) what can they do?
-mario kart 9, this time with less tracks and less characters and new gimmick
-smash bros 6, this time with less characters and no sakurai
-3d mario, the same as odyssey but fans arent starved for sandbox style anymore
