Sometimes you come across something that fascinates, and you wish you’d written yourself . Here’s one such.

Wouldn’t it be better if the commentariat stopped frothing about Wes Streeting’s desire for the big chair, and looked at how much money he’s taken from the private health sector while he dismantles the NHS?

He is out of his mind, isn’t he?

Starmer: “let’s wait and see how the wind is blowing, while in no way implying the slightest criticism of the gangster. There, I think that covers it.”
Grow a spine, man!

Well according to yet another fascist BBC Scotland were platforming this morning, all this stuff is out of date now.

The moment a chancellor says “trickle down” we know:
1 they’ve been captured
2 they need firing
3 they’ve learned nothing from the past about what the finance sector does if left to its own devices: stuff its own pockets, crash world economies, demand bailouts.

Unfortunately the English Government has long abandoned the idea of public service. Now private companies are allowed to extract as much profit as they can get away with. Royal Mail wants to be a parcel courier because it’s where the money is, and it seems to be killing letter post as fast as possible.

2025-07-11 18:23:42 UTC

A reminder that when Křetinský bought Royal Mail in April, there was a solemn guarantee that current levels of service would be maintained.
That lasted three months. Now we see second class post being dismantled. What is UKGov for, actually?

This issue refers specifically to England and Wales, and not to Scotland where water was never privatised. You really should know that if you want to be taken seriously.

Time to clean up Labour’s overt conflicts of interest. Lord Walney’s fresh ties to the defence industry.

OK. Well, first I looked up what a burrito is. (Not unlike a pitta, fair enough.) Then I watched someone making an absolute pig’s ear of demonstrating the method. Lots of giggling with a bed too wide to reach over. So I cut the video and decided to look at another one later on, while reminding myself that what takes me most time changing a duvet cover is fiddling with the **** buttons.
I also spotted a restaurant in Aberdeen called Los (plural) Burrito (singular). Inner pedant snarls.

Fair to say, I suggest, that any UK Government these days is primarily concerned with its own wallets, and its collective future life prospects. The interests of the plebeians are secondary.

You forgot the No 1 rule of BBC Scotland. If it can be criticised, get out the megaphone. If it’s good, ignore it. If forced to mention something good, “yes BUT” and “ah, but WHAT IF?” And talk over the answer.

Scotland’s NHS has an IT system on which patient notes are available equally to GP and hospital practitioners. Developed carefully over time. England has a history of going for big bang, and abandoning failing projects after wasting billions.
Another lesson UK politicos and civil servants really need to learn is this: don’t start building ANYTHING until you’ve pretty much finished designing it. Applies equally to IT systems and ferries, by the way.

Breakdown of expectations between England and the other nations is needed. People we know darn sarf have turned to private hospitals for life-saving ops out of desperation, not free choice.
