@npub1djg…3wvl There are some problems in @npub1qla…qv2c / @npub1ncy…3x0q land.
PackageKit stops working intermittedly and there seems to be no resiliency built-in. This leaves KDE to slowly spiral into self-harm, doom and gloom until such a time (sometimes days later) it blows up and throws you out.
I've had my workstation log me out on three occasions already. Not ok. Especially not ok if new users are getting this experience, but even old dogs like myself feel intimidated.

What is it with the audio from the sessions? This is the second video I watch that is completely unwatchable for me because of audio issues. Was there really only a single audio track recorded for the speeches?

I'm simply suggesting that the UK implements a nation-wide ID system. The nordic countries (Iceland, Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Finland) have done so without complications. In these countries identity theft is almost unheard of (and very very difficult). Unlike the UK where identity theft is possible simply by calling the bank and provide a plausible story.
So... dear friends in GB - buckle up and get yourselves an ID system that works.

They are going to have loads of fun when they realise that the landscape for age verification (other than literally a ID number) changes so rapidly that it is useless.
1) My son has an account since he was 0yo
2) You could have used your mom's CC ?
3) The age limit in Iceland recently changed to 9yo and will continue to lower
4) You could use someone else's CC or a pre-paid CC readily available online.

Ok... I think you are a couple of bricks short of having a full wall here.
Rocky and Alma are based on RHEL, not Fedora. Both RHEL and Fedora (as well as Centos) are part of the IBM conglomerate. Rocky did have *major* issues in the beginning because of IBM's purchase of RedHat and its subsequent changes of licenses and access models.
We went through several panels with Rocky and in the end they were NOT selected as a CentOS successor. openSUSE was.

Yes, I am aware that both Molinux and the Genrarmerie are Ubuntu derived. Canonical being a UK based company makes it a bit easier. Not perfect, but not American.
And *yes* there are very few options. That still doesn't mean proof of concept should be based on American solutions - no more than they should be based on Russian, Chinese, Indian or any other non-EU distro. Here I speak from security standpoint - you don't want a foreign body to control the binaries you install.

Yes- and I agree. Which is why the Spanish distro could be a contender (Catalan government distro) or the French gendarmerie distro - but of course best of all would be to base a EU-distro (EU-owned and operated) on a already EU-based distro like eg. openSUSE - and IF the risk arises of a buyout, the umbilical cord could be cut risk-free.

As great an idea EU OS ( [@eu_os](https://eupolicy.social/@eu_os ) ) is, I would strongly recommend shying away from RHEL and subsidiaries (that includes Centos and Fedora) as possible candidates.
This idea should be a reality - and we should be looking at EU-originated distributions, as we should strife for autonomy, independence, security and supportability.
openSuSE is German. That's good. Ubuntu and its brethren are British (and with a smidgen of hope, Great Britain will rejoin the EU), then there's Molinux (Spain).

Thanks for the pointer to Organic Maps.
One question (if you know) - as far as I can see from the screenshots on Play store, they use Google maps underlying in the app which costs money - and even Google.Maps.Distance which costs even more money.
And the app is free, running on contributions alone.
Having no revenue from the app, how do they pay Google for that API key they need?
Just curious, because my gut says the math doesn't add up...
