As a former bus driver... this is a tremendous policy! So much time was wasted at bus stops selling tickets one-by-one to passengers. Prepayment, contactless payment, and free travel passes were all big improvements over selling tickets for cash, but "bus arrives, some people get off, some people get on and find a seat without delay, bus drives on" is the absolute gold standard.
Combine it with enforced bus lanes and bus-priority traffic lights and you get much more consistent running times - and from there you can get a much faster timetable that doesn't need to accommodate so much variation!

Who's being forced here?
"You should block [X] because [reason, e.g. they federate with Threads]. We block anyone federated with Threads" is no more dictatorial than saying "Don't tell other servers who to block, don't warn them you block servers that federate with Threads".
People can run servers as they please, federate and block as they please, develop policies and red lines between themselves. Defederation cuts both ways.

fond (not fond) memories of working for a church as an admin and being very depressed (working in central London on £21k will do that). one of the pastors told me I needed to see a GP and get on some medication or I'd probably be fired for poor punctuality etc. the GP told me they don't go immediately to medication and "since you work for a faith organisation, many people who have faith find prayer is effective"
she also recommended exercise, so I bought a bike and that did help. but not as much as leaving London, becoming an athiest and earning a few more £ks
