Magic Tricks 🧙‍♂️✨
👋Hi, ArcaneChat magician here 🧙‍♂️ this is the section where I teach you some magic tricks to help you get the full potential out of ArcaneChat
In today's lesson we will be looking at the image editor of ArcaneChat:
when you attach an image, before sending it you could click in the pencil ✏️ icon to edit it, here you have all kind of cool tricks, from drawing to blurring a part of the picture, ex. to protect some faces
you can also put some text, what not many think of is that using the text option you can also enter arbitrary emoji, and then using two fingers to pan you can make it bigger or rotate it and put it the way you like, this gives you a lot of gadgets to add to make your images more fun
if you have kids in the family using the app they will love it, together with the drawing brush it is also a source of entertainment for small kids! (this was tested already! just a small advice: better do it in a dedicated profile or they might accidentally mess up your chats or send stuff to your contacts!)

sometimes @npub1enq…ycu8 feels like a mafia, some #DeltaChat users tried to create a Delta Chat entry in Wikipedia (EN) several times over the years and they always rejected it, claiming it is not relevant enough and needing more sources,
when sources were provided someone would comment that "likely that are paid articles" and shit like that
even when Delta Chat page exist for other languages already
then there are things like Beeper https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beeper_(software) with a SINGLE citation to a paid-walled article
what gives???
please if some of you have experience contributing to Wikipedia (and I guess some secret connections or being known contributor is needed as well) consider creating a Delta Chat entry

odd I use it with friends and family and never had a problem :(
but as said, it is known that it is not working for some people, so no doubting you, but it is not like they are not working at all, it works for a lot of people

it doesn't happen to me and many more, but for sure I have seen some people that claim they don't get push notifications, but without someone close to look at the problem in action and see what is actually happening it is hard
it could be the push notifications server, or your chatmail server, or maybe even you are getting the push notifications fine and it is your phone killing/restricting the app from processing the messages in background

if you don't have push notifications you need to enable the app to always run in background, anyways there is also #UnifiedPush support coming, it also depends on the provider you are using, and ofc maybe you are hitting some bug 🤔

when you use "free" websites and services you will end up paying for it one way or the other, with your data, with dependence, once you depend on something you are more vulnerable to be exploited for it
besides normal web services, even in places like #Telegram, the mini-apps are just websites that you can open right inside the app, but remote websites controlled by 3rd parties in the end, you depend on them to keep operating the service, they have access to all the data you enter and use inside their mini-app
with #ArcaneChat and other #DeltaChat clients it is a completely different story!
YOU are in full control of the data you enter and use inside the in-chat mini-apps
there is no 3rd party with access to it, all data exchange works peer-to-peer between the chat members
there is no dependence in any website or service at all! it is just a normal attachment you send in the chat
they work #serverless! you can even use them while being #offline, so they are offline-first out of the box
yet even your grandparents can use them without even realizing there is a lot of power and freedom you get under the tips of your fingers!
this shouldn't go unnoticed!

I am very sorry for you to need to cope with this:
the best option for private chatting TODAY when it comes to #security, usability/user-friendly, #resilience, #digitalindependence and #freedom is #DeltaChat a chat app that use #SMTP + #IMAP at its backbone, not your favorite "perfect" chat protocol, you don't need new better protocols, you need tools that actually work for the people

it is a bit ironical to recommend #Signal, a centralized American service that runs on #Amazon, #Google and #Microsoft services and depends heavily on them spending millions each year just to pay to Amazon and then in an #European context recommend that as "digital independence"
Some people say it is a compromise, but the bar is way too low if you recommend Signal at the “digital independence day”. At this point It's about selling a feeling instead of actual accomplishment
