Now I read this:
GrapheneOS finds Pixel 11 does have hardware support for MTE after all
The discovery came after Google released Android 17 QPR2 Beta 4. It is now testing whether the feature works properly and how much it affects performance.
So is there hope?

additionally, every website you visit you should check if it's hosted in the Google Cloud because that would mean it's not Google Free either.
So the question is, what is the definition of Google Free? For me, it is by default no connections to any Google server, no usage of any Google app, etc. And the control is fully with the user.
And with this definition, as far as I know, there is only #grapheneOS.
Others seem to connect at least to the captive portal or supl or connectivity checks to google server

Das finde ich jetzt auch nicht so prall.
Außerdem finde ich die Aussage, dass die CIA bei AWS ist und man daher DuckDuckGo nicht nutzen sollte nicht ausreichend. Was will der Autor damit sagen?
Dass die CIA daher die Daten sehen kann? Das ist quatsch. Aber: Die Cloudanbieter der USA müssen Daten auf Anfrage herausgeben, egal ob die CIA den selben Hoster verwendet.
Ich finde die Begründung, keine amerikanischen Clouds zu verwenden oder zu unterstützen sehr viel stärker. Denn wenn es danach geht, dürfte man fast keinen Computer kaufen, weil die meisten in China gefertigt werden, ähnlich Handys usw.

the last #gos @npub1kwa…e0nj update seems to have fixed a battery issue I had with my pixel 8 pro.
It did not last a day anymore for some time. It is 1,5 years old. But now it survives a day easily again. Not sure about the reason, cannot be my usage (or not at least this dramatically), so must be the latest update…

It reminded me of a proverb:
-A fool with a tool is still a fool.-
The new economy bubble burst as well and lots of companies from then are gone. But still something is left. And not a little bit.
I guess this will be the case here as well.
On the other hand, Google, apple, Meta have loads of cash. Companies like anthropic or openai or or or may be soon sucked up, maybe by MS, maybe by Apple etc.
What worries me most are two things:
1. We use AI and vast resources to create artificial cat videos, summarize phishing emails and many other things not adding real value to our lives.
2. I believe I read and heard, from smarter people, that the transformer model architecture is not sufficient. But we stopped researching for new solutions.

your worries are fundamentally wrong.
Depending on OS but you give access to mic or cam per App. And when you give access to app a and prohibit for app b b has no access. Apps are sandboxed.
Facebook has violated some things in the past, but that led the operating system providers to improve the security.

the problem, as it appears to me is, that even if I do not use and want it, the other side may still do so and hence use my chats, my pics, my data with the AI at hand, sharing it with Meta, Google, Apple or whoever… How can I protect myself from this? I can’t. I only see two ways:
I speak with each one of my contacts and ask them to respect my privacy. It took me years to get everyone on Threema, now I have to do this again
Second: the providers of the messenger apps should have an indicator on my chat if my opponent uses AI. Not really and not always possible and I am sure Meta will never do this.

I think we can only state that:
1. Currently the fairphone does not offer hardware acceptable for GOS
2. No one can predict the future.
I am sure, when fairphone offers hardware which is acceptable, GOS will seriously consider it
