There are a number of issues with your reply.
1st ¶: One can’t *choose* one’s beliefs. You either believe a claim is true, or you don’t.
The unlikelihood of a god’s existence does not logically lead to “believ[ing] that there is no god.”
“Since you can’t know, to me it’s a choice.” That conflates atheism and agnosticism. Agnostic refers to knowledge; atheism to belief. I’m an agnostic (can’t know) atheist (don’t believe). If your answer to “Do you *believe* a god exists?” is “No,” then you’re an atheist. You don’t hold the belief. (The “a-” prefix negates what follows: a+theism = no belief in god).
2nd ¶: Of course, some atheists will make the claim that there is no god. That’s an extension into making a positive claim, which isn’t a lack of belief in one thing but a claim for belief of its opposite. This isn’t semantics; there’s a real difference between the two.
3rd ¶: In addition to sharing your feelings about imposing religious views on others, here on Mastodon I’m attempting to light a little spark of critical thought in any theists who happen upon my posts. At heart, and for any theists brave enough to explore, I contest the root cause of all religious strife, which is the use of faith.
