the idea of "petnames" described in the paper requires infrastructure for being able to see names that your friends set. Otherwise every contacts app would count as petnames, but that's not the case.

but can you see your friend's address book within yours? That's what makes petnames special. I don't recall I2P being able to do that.

Him starting the project has always cast a shadow, but ostensibly it could be ignored after he left a leadership role. Now there will be a strong social cost with associating with Urbit at all.

Big news in my inbox today from the Urbit Newsletter: Curtis Yarvin has returned to the project. Apparently this happened in late August. This is pretty shocking news and will probably be a make-or-break moment for the project.

Anyone got a good way to keep lists of POIs, restaurants, bars, etc in the city on a map? It looks like Google Maps is the best solution but I'm wondering if there's anything nice that is not that.

It looks like Simple Mobile Tools (those orange Android apps) have been forked after the buyout so they can continue to have a non-corporate home. The suite is now called Fossify.
