This reminds me of some of the co-op, collective and artist/craftsperson, salon communal market spaces in our town.
Usually they are "owned" by one (or small incorporation) entrepreneur. They themselves usually have a seed stall, or the major portion of the floor space while vendors negotiate for floor/shelf space.
A portion of the sales of their products/services goes to their "rent" and handling the transactions.
Since there are several in town of various kinds, I'm inclined to believe that in at least those various industries and this location, it works well.
Kinda like a local install brick & mortar Etsy.

I suspect this is the case with our vet.
Used to be independent then the main vet "retired"/"sold" and now every visit is accompanied by a hard-sell on the in-vet pet-food brands.
(Hard sell because they literally tell us that the brand we're getting elsewhere is UNTESTED and likely to cause our pet's premature and painful demise)

While we acknowledge this product is harmful to... Everyone. It's convenient and profitable. So really if we aren't making it someone else, with the same or worse moral/ethical convictions, will do it instead.
I guess this argument works if you believe your already on the sinking ship without a lifeboat. And it can be applied to any harmful products as long as there is a potential market. Pollution, weapons, drugs, human as chattel... anything.

Well... that's crappy.
Coincidentally I happen to have a NES Blades of Steel (Konami) cart on my desk.
I got it at a thrift store for $3.50 CAD. I've little doubt it will function as good as the one I rented from the Video-View down the road from the house where I grew up.
Why is everything so fragile and/or have a designed or intrinsic shelf life?

Clearly, like 5 eyes, NATO, and so on... New organisations that explicitly exclude the US should and likely are being created.
Imagine the LA Olympics with.. only the US, Russia, Israel and North Korea. Perhaps a few of the other nations captured by the IDU at the time.

Charitable Tax Donation tax credits, unearned, claimed by over profitable corporations that actively seek to reduce the amount they pay to employees and taxation.
The donation is both performance and theft.

in my ham-handed electronics work (well below amateur, but above smashing rocks together) I've decided that SMD components, while nice for making compact devices, have got to go.
Nearly un-maintainable. Needing to rework some older devices and replace caps or diodes, or anything... hole-through is so much easier for my bad eyes and poor dexterity to desolder and re-solder.
I have a device with a micro-usb power port that came off. Prob can't fix it. Barrel jack✅

I know several people who will be very interested in keeping their medical devices functional.
Communication, lighting, tools.
Societal collapse can take many forms and degrees of effect. And will likely not be distributed equally. And not everyone will be on-board with a fantasy of return to an idealized pre-industrial, agrarian, hunter/gatherer existence, especially if that means they and many people they know have to just give up.
But... all this spoils the fun
