We should work towards not screwing up Earth instead of accepting we will screw it up. Using that logic, you’ll screw up wherever you go. So just stop doing that thing and problem solved.

I get it’s a blog and I don’t disagree with the premise.
That being said, humans have survived in very inhospitable places (ISS has been constantly inhabited since 2000, Antarctica has research stations). But agreed, neither one of those really amounts to a “colony”.
And there has been talk of having an underground base if we do decide to stay on Mars for awhile.
Is it impossible? No. Unlikely? Yes. But this could have been explained better.
