Back in the day indigenous people around here had public canoes on certain sections of the river for anyone to use. You couldn't easily take the canoes anywhere else anyway, and everyone benefitted from having canoes just like, around on that section of the river so like... yeah. People would carry their own paddles with them, and use the public canoes when they traveled.
Also yeah good to see you around Skuppr, fedi kinda sucks but I always like talking about boats with you!!

Reading old camping manuals from like 100+ years ago is wild.
You think you’re ultralight? These dudes didn’t carry water, or filters, because it was mostly all still safe to drink. They didn’t carry food because there were so many fish and edible plants everywhere.
The biosphere is so fucked up now that we save to carry all of this stuff with us. Can’t just be a human alive in the woods anymore.

I'm seeing a bunch of liberals be like "we just need to get Republican voters to realize that Project 2025 is literal nazi style fascism" but I think the problem is far more severe:
A lot of Republican voters already realize that, and they think it's a good thing.
The Republican Party has effectively been a fascist party since at least 9/11, if not Reagan.
They elected a guy in 2016 who said he would stage a coup if he wasn't re-elected, and then he did exactly that.
