I just realized that the Croatian language does not have a separate word for “weather”. We just reuse the word “time”.
So a weather forecast is called a time forecast. Instead of severe weather, we say severe time. When we talk about weather conditions, we say time conditions.
Crazy, huh? I was thinking about weather, and I couldn’t think of a Croatian word for it. But I thought, there must be something because it’s such an important concept that needs its own word. Turns out, no, it doesn’t.

I still have an Intel-based MacBook, which does not seem to support limiting battery percentage to something like 80% while plugged in (it always charges to 100%), so I finally looked into it, and apparently there are third-party tools for that. I tried AlDente, and it seems to get the job done:

1. gas is one of the thee primary states of matter (solid, liquid, and gas)
2. gas is natural gas (you cook food on a gas stove)

You can access the user’s preferred font-size via `font-size: medium` anywhere on the page. This is true even if you overwrite the user’s preference on the <html> element (by setting a different font-size and changing the value of 1rem).

`font-size: small` can be smaller than `font-size: smaller`. Both values make the font-size smaller by a similar amount, but `small` is calculated relative to 1rem, while `smaller` is relative to 1em.
So if you’re in a heading where 1em is significantly larger than 1rem, `small` will be smaller than `smaller`.
Correction: `small` is relative to the user’s preferred font size directly. Changing the value of 1rem does not change `small`.

When the user “goes back” in their browser, two things can happen:
1. the previous web page is loaded from the network
2. the previous web page is re-rendered from memory locally
Does the user have any control over this? Can they choose which one happens? Can they force one over the other?

Ever since I discovered that Facebook provides RSS feeds for the posts of individual users, I’m using Facebook more than probably ever in my life.
Now whenever I hear about an organization or association that I find interesting, I first check if they post on Facebook so that I can decide if I want to subscribe to their RSS feed.

My question was more conceptual. Would it be a good idea if alt text was portable like that? When posting an image to the web, the website could detect the image description and ask the user if they want to use it as the image’s alt text.

The Preview app on macOS lets you add an image description to the image (press Cmd + Shift + A to show the toolbar, and then it’s the last button on the right), but if you post the image here, that description is not automatically set as the alt text. Should it be?

In Firefox, there are two ways to reload the tab:

I need a third way: reload and repopulate form fields.
I need this because some websites are implemented in such a way that all form fields are reset on reload. I need to override this website behavior. The browser can do it.

In other words, the fact that smaller parties absorb all the most extreme views allows the two main parties to stay more moderate. I think the USA could benefit from such a system.

In Croatia, the answer is no because we have at least five major political parties (and a bunch of smaller ones) that all more or less compete with each other, so the voting population isn’t cleanly cut into two major blocks.
Another very important reason: The most extreme views (anti abortion, anti immigrant, anti capitalism, etc.) are only held by smaller parties. The two main parties (our “Democrats and Republicans”) are closer to the center.

For your country, does there exist an org chart that includes all the government bodies? I mean everything, all the agencies, operators, offices, inspectorates, independent institutions, healthcare and education, the police and other investigative bodies, state-owned companies, local governments, the entire judiciary system, and more. A stupendous org chart that shows everything. A chart so large that you need to go to an IMAX theater to view without scrolling. Does that exist for your country?

On a related note, I have found that when it comes to topics that I know a lot about, I much prefer text, because it allows me to quickly skip over all the parts that I already know in search for new information, but for all other topics, I prefer video, because it allow me to just sit back and take it all in more effortlessly.
