But the sick puppy that is Netanyahu was getting impatient to complete his genocide and ethnic cleansing. He wanted into Gaza and he needed an excuse - Hamas.
I don’t think for one second that Hamas has no Israeli spies in their command, and I think they acted as agents provocateur.

But not unprecedented, as the Clydebank blitz will confirm. Of 6000 houses in Clydebank, only 12 were left completely untouched and about half were either destroyed, or made uninhabitable. About 10% of the population were killed over three nights.

@npub16nf…y96v it’s not going to be a problem for very many more years, as English is already diverging to the point where some speakers find it difficult to understand each other. In another 50 or 100 years, certain forms of English will become verbally incomprehensible to others, and only the written word will be truly international.
It will go the same way as Latin, Arabic and mandarin.

The result is exactly the same – a dead bird.

No politician can be an expert in everything they’re expected to deal with, which is why we need a permanent stable body of government officials, whose job it is to find out what the politician needs to know. The idea that an incoming party or president could clear out civil servants and substitute her own is horrendous.

I now realise this is not the same as Northern Ireland. It is far far more serious. The British government did not respond to bombings in London and Birmingham by carpet bombing Belfast.
So yes, they have let the genie out the bottle. And it will not go back.

@npub1mmf…eknq I got a reply yesterday, accusing me of sympathising with Hamas, simply because I didn’t use the American day order but the one that every other country on the planet uses.
But he was so caught up in his American exceptionalism that, as soon as he saw the date written another way, he assumed it meant sympathy.
Israel, Palestine and pretty much all of the rest of the world say 7/10 and that’s good enough for me - after all, that’s where it took place.

Nigeria has a few billionaires, but it is a ooor country, and we are heading in the same direction

@npub1g0t…tvm4 they were controversial right from the start. They probably reached a peak in the 60s when pretty much everybody wore one on armistice day (the day, not the Sunday)
But since then they have gradually and naturally declined until about 5-10 years ago when they started really being pushed.
They should have been allowed to die a natural and dignified death, not suffer the indignity of flogging a dead horse.
Sadly it’s now becoming a nationalist tin-thumping festival.

It also revolutionises family caring duties, potentially removing a considerable burden from the state.

@npub1euz…2t93 @npub14c3…fgw5 as far as I can understand, the reason it was altered was because German printing machines did not include it in their typesetting.
As to the letter itself, it appears to be an attempt to phonetically represent the pronunciation in Gaelic where an n becomes ñ. This occurs when the letter is surrounded by slender vowels like I and E. The closest equivalent in English would be the n in onion; the yoch would have the effect of modifying the n in the same way.

@npub1ezx…74mr @npub1nca…7f70 standing looking at a brand-new oil tank the other day, it occurred to me that the Scottish Government could be taxing sales of oil tanks, oil boilers, gas boilers, and gas tanks.
I don’t suppose they’ve got the powers to tax, but there must be some way of dis-incentivising replacement of fossil fuel equipment. When you’re thinking of renewing anyway it’s the best time to think of moving away from fossils.
