Digital Ocean ended their $50/month sponsorship of GNOME and FlatHub and went radio silent on CSS-Tricks right around the time they found a spare three million dollars to burn on “sponsoring” a high-profile racist’s dotfiles repo.
Impossible to see this as anything but a statement of their values.

Multipage Version is a zine about HTML elements.
Issue #1: HEADINGS and #2: IMAGES are both available now.

Hey dorks, who would you most like to see interviewed about images for https://multipa.ge #2? I have an idea, but it's a huge longshot on account of who and how I am.
I will say no more on this.

Alright dorks, part two of the Standard.Site Saga coming Monday. I now have the whole deal automated on my little Eleventy site, and you can too.

One or more person or persons may or may not have spoken, and in a voice funneled through a person whose professional success explicitly hinges on demand for this feature, cried out: “eight.” That’s web standards, baby!

I’d never tell anyone they MUST* understand JavaScript to work on the web, but I will make the case that one SHOULD*. To understand JavaScript is to know the boundaries of how users can interact with your medium — any role is improved by that.

"AI coding" is reaching levels of second-hand embarrassment far surpassing even the sweatiest of public meltdowns over an NFT:

Ah hell, thanks for the catch. In my head, I had “well, these are ‘syntax-directed operations,’ so syntax that directs an operation, so an operator.” Right you are, though.

Hey, is there any interest in my writing up the process and result of going from a decade of MacsBook Pro [sic] to this Framework joint and Ubuntu? On the one hand, man, who cares, but on the other I really could’ve used an unvarnished write-up when I was thinking about switching.

i tell you, if it were both legal and possible to get an instance of macOS Catalina running in a virtual machine on linux that would really have solved a lot of my ongoing computer problems fifteen, maybe twenty minutes ago

2024-07-08 14:09:11 UTC

I can’t believe I’m doing this, but: do any you Certain-Kind-of-Dorks have one of those repair-it-yourself Framework joints, and if so, is it any good?
I’m here on a perfectly good MBP with super-glued keys and a growing screen crack that I guess will just go in the compost bin soon, and nothing could be more offensive to my crafting sensibilities.
