New Zealand is a amazing place for milky way photograhpy. Lots of places without much light pollution compared to my home country Germany. But still a little tricky to find a good composition when the stars are directly above you. I'm not completly satisfied with the palm tree approach but more interesting that just the plain sky. What do you think?

Our last sunrise in Tasmania was something special. At first, the sky was cloudless, but just as I began to growl, a dark cloud cover quickly rolled in. It started to rain, but a small part of the sky remained clear where the sun was rising.

We visited the small island of Maria Island to see wombats and other animals in the wild. We had barely left the boat and had not yet unpacked the camera when a young animal ran across our path. So we quickly got the camera out and just managed to get a picture.

We spotted the first auroras in the sky on the drive from the airport to our accommodation. So we quickly put on as many clothes as we could fit, got the tripod out of the suitcase and headed outside.
A great start to the photo trip, especially as no clear nights were forecast for the next few days.
