I wonder how often diagnosing is the bottleneck.
My few experiences with family members in the ER were super annoying because of the lack of available beds in the hospital and the nurses' miscommunication with doctors.
I hope folks doing AI for healthcare are focused on addressing the things that have the most impact, not the coolest ML problems 👀
Also, what happened to Hinton's prediction about radiologists? 🙈

those old-school mailing lists were a bit less scary than broadcasting on social media, where you have to contend with senior scholars, random internet trolls, and fear of being canceled for saying the wrong thing.
If I were to address this, I'd create more ephemeral, highly curated online/offline groups with a solid face-to-face component. Reducing context collapse.
@npub1vd6…cphg, @npub1v5s…h9wu, and I have done some events like this but it takes a lot of energy to keep them going.

I have also noticed a lot less interest in microblogging compared to my generation. This is probably because these platforms were more niche back in the day. They felt like a private group chat among friends. I have this theory that public social media "died" about 4 years ago and became an industrial-strength experience, mainly for those people interested in influencer-like behavior. If it wasn't for Mastodon, I probably would have checked out a while ago.

dumb question but aren’t all IPs given by ISPs public? I thought they just block ports but the addresses itself is public
