I disagree. If we think of fascism as just Mussolini and Hitler, yes, Trump is different. But fascism is more complex than that. It didn't disappear after WW2, but lived on as regimes supported by the US. They had varying degrees of theatrics and grand ideas, but a fiercely nationalist regime in cahoots with oligarchs was the model everywhere.
Trump looks very much like a dictator in Latin-America or Africa from the 1970s or 80s, including the love for gold and glamour, the gangsterism and the use of state power to enrich himself.
Nazism has been described as "boomerang imperialism", where the genocidal tactics of imperialism were brought back to Europe. I think Trump could be seen through the same lens where the imperialist tactics of US in the late 20th century are applied to US itself.

I think it is a proxy issue.
There's a hard right stance (not necessarily far right) against the welfare state, regulations and taxation among the 1 percent, and they want to lax a lot of regulations and taxes. Especially labour regulations. Since this is a hard sell, they try to use the wealth tax as a wedge in the election.
With the wealth tax, the inherent argument is that rich people are the most important people for economic growth and that instead of taxing them, we should be grateful for their contributions to society. Basically the Ayn Rand view of the world. That's the messaging that follows the anti-wealth tax campaigns, and what they get if they can get the Progress party in government.
The proxy issue is unimportant, the key issue is "more power to us".

Research in Norway shows that the use of #AI was detrimental to cancer diagnostics. As doctors started to trust the automated process, they stopped using their own skills. And as the AI wasn't that good either, so the overall results was less cancer was diagnosed at an early stage.

@npub168q…newp sånn sett burde partiene ha en kronerulling for hverandre. Både SV, MDG og Rødt vinner på at MDG og Rødt er over sperregrensa og at SV er store i forhold til Ap. De er ikke enige om alt og har ulike velgere, men så lenge de får flere til å stemme totalt sett istedenfor å bare stjele velgere fra hverandre så er det jo win-win.

det er nok "forretningssensitiv informasjon", men det ligger i en prisklasse utenfor hva vanlige frivillige organisasjoner og små partier har råd til (flere hundre tusen AFAIK). Enten så har noen av medlemmene veldig dype lommer (Diesen sjøl kanskje?) eller så er det russiske penger bak.

Years ago @npub1vlk…m0nh and others warned us that Assad's Syria was the future, where rebellion was met with massacres and obliteration. #Gaza is the current iteration of this policy of death and destruction for the sake of it. The display of power and the total destruction of anything that stands against the current regime is all there is, and the more death and destruction that is dealt, the more powerful the regime believes itself to be.
As Trump and his oligarch cronies will face increasing opposition, I fear that this form of #necropolitics also will be their policy. Not at first, but eventually, as the collapse of liberal democracy rushes forward.

really, you agree with this bullshit? Only a very sanitized version of Sweden's history will support this. Sweden always had a strong nationalist and racist bent to it's social democracy, including eradicating lots of its Sami culture, and unlike other European countries there never was any consequences for the Swedish Nazis after WW2, which means that Sweden has been a hotspot of Nazi activity since then. And you can't explain the rise in crime without looking at the dismantling of the welfare state in 00s and 10s. But, blame it on Arabs gangs and welfare tourism...

yes, I even tried to test it, but the instance died. Doesn't seem like there's any active developers either. If someone put up an active Friendica instance with developers and a focus on UX (especially for mobile) I would give them money. Though, as the lead developer left for Hubzilla, that might be a better option.
Still, an organization of sorts, with a vision and a plan to make a decentralized Facebook replacement is needed for something to happen.

this chart doesn't cover all the other costs and benefits of the EU. The redistributive logic of EU economic policies are more to the benefit of those same countries, while the costs are borne by the other countries (with Greece during the financial crisis as the most obvious example).
The right turning against EU is mostly about the far right, EU has always been a centre-right project, the actual left has been critical about it. Though, the left has won some victories through the EU that it wouldn't have in some countries (especially the UK) without it, so now there's support for the EU on the left.

At vi finner på nye jobber er en sannhet med modifikasjoner, det er litt mer sammensatt. Vi kunne automatisert mye mer hvis målet var å spare arbeidstid, mens en del automatisering ikke nødvendigvis egentlig er effektivisering, men handler mer om hvem som har kontroll over arbeidet.
Det blir jo også borte i perspektivtet fra KI-fantastene, men hovedproblemet her er likevel at de tror at det kommer "generell kunstig intelligens" snart. Det er veldig langt fra en video-generator til noe som kan erstatte alle jobber i verden.

Ja gatene der jeg bor er jo oppkalt etter kongenavn (Sverres gates, Eiriks gate, Håkons gate etc), men uten noen spesifisering av hvilken konge, så de kan jo fint få nye navn. Det er riktignok en Gunhilds gate også, men ingen har faktisk adresse i den.

Good post. This has been a flaw with FOSS for a long time. You can't build a sustainable model on pure voluntarism. FOSS is a great idea, but it either needs public funding or a model where the users pay for the development. There are a few companies that rely on FOSS and also contributes to it's development, (ie the user pays model), but way too many just treat it as free (as in beer) software.
Public funding is probably a more reliable route. It could be a variant of user pay along with the "public money, public code"-principle, but (some) software should be treated as infrastructure that needs public investment.

the book "Non-violence ain't what it used to be" by Shon Meckfessel might interest you then.
There's also tons of general theory on this issue in general, most of it not at all informed by anyone who've ever been seriously involved in activism. Most of it are strong opinions with some random statistics stacked on top. Look for things written by people who either have bitter experiences of defeat or for sociologists who study those movements that won.
As for your initial question. Are there any examples of movements that lost because they've been too disruptive? Possibly the urban guerillas of Western Europe in 70s/80s, but there's also examples of some very successful actions from those groups.
