Some things without a price are valuable because they create change on a deeper level.

talking out of my rear, i have this idea that p2p projects are often from enthusiasts who figured out an interesting way to move data around that fits their particular circumstances/tooling, rather than people who write formal protocol specs for broader application (how i interpreted "off the street")

stay updated, scale big, or you'll get taken out.

bsky is already usable by normal people imo, probably will get better from here

i could be wrong but i understand free our feeds is an independent org and not affiliated with bluesky.
might also want to contrast at protocol with activity pub regarding something like "social app development layer" versus "open protocol for social networking"

My iOS apps are on the App Store again; if you ever wanted to have sonogrid or the others, now might be a good time to get a copy.

anyone connected to Tumblr who can help me figure out why two of my blogs vanished without a trace or notice? support hasn't acknowledged anything…

i feel that! do you have an idea of what the stack should do (like minimum scope)?
- i think this person has a pretty technical approach with scripts https://beepb00p.xyz
- just learned this term by accident but there are "data hoarding" lists on github and a reddit, maybe for ideas? https://duckduckgo.com/?q=data+hoarding&t=iphone&ia=web
- i'd say i'm doing my own version of this, or at least i've found a kind of stack https://rosano.ca/blog/bringing-vibrations-home

love these projects, in a way it's like alternative frontends nitter or bibliogram but over activitypub. i'd be curious to hear how you maintain access as there seems to be constan battles to prevent this sort of thing.

not really what i was going for, but i learned that @npub1gq5…qcul has a 'sign-in with mastodon' feature since 2023… i think it's to easily autofill details in a new account rather than maintain a single identity, not a migration either https://mastodon.social/@pixelfed/110727848627479712

i like the idea of using those but i want to avoid migrating to a new server, would be great to use pixelfed with my existing fedi account as it's all activitypub anyway

2025-01-27 06:23:22 UTC

if anyone here has watched my videos via the fediverse, i'm curious to understand the difference of experience between uploading directly to mastodon vs posting a youtube link. is native video better for any reason? i assume hosting is expensive so i try not to 'take up data' – do i have the wrong idea?
