Steam Streaming is a criminally underutilized feature, $0.02. My gaming rig is in the basement so if Im playing Im antisocial :(
But depending on the game I can steam scream most games to my linux laptop in the living room.
Most games. Wouldn't want to try it with a reaction-time critical game like Arc Raiders.

.. look into a VPN tunnel from VPS to home server. I've never used one of those (for tunneling traffic direct from host a to host b), but that allows you to tunnel multiple ports through a single, encrypted port so your home firewall only needs to expose the one for the VPN inbound traffic.
In these cases I imagine the VPN tunnel appears as just another network interface and all you have to do is route traffic accordingly. Like map that `proxy_pass` to be `http://ip.on.vpn.net:port`

But it IS adding an extra hop and the latencies that produces. For any self-hosted service I cant imagine it would be noticeable by clients, but its an extra step.
Mind you, if for some reason you fall afoul of some attacks or a DDOS at you, at least its your VPS providers's prob. So thats a thing.
Ok so then what you could do is confgure NGINX on VPS to map to <your hom IP> and <port>. But if your IP changes you'll have to update your NGINX config on VPS.

Ohh I see now. Have nginx (or whatever) reverse proxying on your VPS and redirecting to your box(es) at home.
Not being on the same LAN.. well it won't be as efficient. My way if we connect to pleroma.yourdomain its two hops, client->your ISP/modem->your.server
Your way its three: client ->your vps->your ISP/modem->your.server
I get the appeal of privacy; and NGINX when it does this doesn't tell clients that the actual service isn't local, so yay.

A simplified NGINX config would be:

all this says is any request for `jelly.awadwatt.com` (via https, port 443) redirect that to othercomputer on port 9800

Likewise my Jellyfin server is at `jelly.awadwatt.com` and is hosted on a different computer and all NGINX on bob does is redirect all traffic for `jelly.awadwatt.com` to THAT computer.
Unless there's something Im not picking up there's no `tunnel` going on, at least in the VPN sense of the word, this is called reverse-proxying. Several services on same/different hosts but all being "proxied" behind a single responder to the outside world (that responder being NGINX)

So for example, my Writefreely server runs on a computer `steve` in my basement.
My cheap ($10?/yr) dynamic dns provider maps `https://awadwatt.com/` to the IP address assigned by my ISP. I've configured my cable router firewall to allow inbound http ports to another computer `bob`. NGINX on `bob` gets the request for `awadwatt.com` and knows to redirect to `steve:80`, i.e. Writefreely runs on port 80 there.

My son and friends went to a concert in Toronto on the weekend of Masayoshi Soken, the music from the Final Fantasy series. (apparently it was really fantastic)

What would that mean?
The closest I can think would be Hi-8 video cameras - the optics are analog (or a combination), the CMOS sensor is digital, but the compressed digital stream is written to tape? (what counts as analog.. to my mind tape, even if it stores a digital byte stream is still "analog".. because, well, its tape.)

Turns out, we signed on to a pilot program where we paid $x/yr for _some_ features, but after the pilot program ended they just rolled that tier into the All-Bells-And-Whistles Tier _and didn't fcking tell anyone_.

Part of my struggle is that I've been here for 15 years - I've seen coworkers come and go, and an inordinate amount of relearning the hard way. I and a few other Oldtimers keep pointing out "that's gonna be a problem" but since the newcomers never suffered in the last implosion, they get distracted by $sexier$ features. Our engineering arm is hostage to our product management and sales, none have a sw background; we are bereft of technical product ownership and UX experience.

In most big grocery chains there is our household daily, Kicking Horse (w/ such varieties as Kick-Ass, Three Sisters, Grizzly Claw (and they're fair trade!).
Here in town (Kitchener/Waterloo) there's Smile Tiger, Balzacs, Pyrus, Matter of Taste - although one's availability to get these outside of mid-sw-Ontario might be more difficult (tho they're in many retail locations here).

Has a point. HDMI never had this problem - could you imagine the strife if your TV had 4 HDMI ins, but only 1 of them supported 4k, 2 did 1080 and one only did 720?
I have never heard of that. The capabilities of the source or the sink are applicable to all ports of that type - the chipset whose capabilities matter generally is only going to be dealing with one port at a time, but it will never know which one. USB chipset has to deal with all simultaneously.

An extended relative works at a digital forensic company where they are using LLMs to scan message bds and chats looking for child predators. Apparently their models are amazingly good. (the investigation, indictment still done by humans w/ subpoenas ofc, !minority.report yet)
If I had $fuck.u$, I'd hire them to write anti-racist/bigot/misogyny/phobic version that moderators could use. One click on a suspect account and it scrubs their post history for banvidence.

Interestingly enough, not only does the ring serve as a reminder of one's professional societal obligation, it can also save your fingers - I had my hand slammed in a car door once and that ring saved two of my fingers from being mangled.

When a Canadian engineering student graduates, there is a ritual called the Calling of an Engineer(written by Kipling no less) where they are presented with an iron ring to be worn on the pinkie of their writing hand as a reminder of their obligation not to screw up. Rumor is the steel these rings are made from is from the wreckage of this bridge - that's FALSE, sadly, but its such a metal story I can't help but perpetuate it, ironically (heh) in violation of my oath.

But if you think of an AI engine as just another application you can run on a computer then running distributed cluster of AI nodes on physical servers or in a cluster of VMS makes little difference to the AI engine.
The BIG power consumer of AI engines is in the CPU and (more importantly) GPU power - AI models are a lot of math crunching which GPUs are very good at. But a big power draw. While virtualization adds a teeny overhead, its ~0 compared to base AI usage.

Running applications in a virtual machine (i.e. emulation of a computer and OS within another computer) technically requires a little more electricity due to the emulation and management overhead. But the flexibility virtualization gives you more than makes up for it. If your one server is at capacity you can scale quickly by taking a snapshot of that VM and starting up clone VMs (I'm over simplifying a bit).

I really liked Firefox (before Mozilla shit the bed) - but I spend too much of my work life in cloud applications that just crush Gecko (the Firefox engine). They crush Ffox because the developers of these apps don't test against Gecko and they don't test against Gecko because Ffox only has what 4% browser share and sinking?
Vivaldi for the win. Though, I hate the fact that there are only two browser engines out there. I can't help but feel we're setting ourselves up.
