I used to try to figure out the US financial system. Now I just skim over any articles or notes about the fed, bonds, rates, QE, treasuries, blah blah blah. Even the smart people can't predict anything.
In my monetary system (#bitoin) I can tell you exactly how many are in circulation, what address holds them, and exactly when and how many new ones will be issued.

The power to opt out is underrated. I used to think of power mostly in terms of offense or defense, one side or the other, try to beat them or stop them.
Currently, I realize there are still some battles worth fighting, but most of the time, just saying I’m not participating in your system is the most beautiful exercise of power.

I flew a helicopter tonight using night vision goggles (NVGs). Photons turned into electrons, amplified, then turned into an eyepiece image. Magic technology so I can see in the dark and avoid obstacles. While it helps to understand the principles of the science, I don’t have to understand everything about how it works to use it professionally.

Under the current system way too much goes to the people whose only contribution is moving/managing money. Under a sound money standard like bitcoin, more people will be incentivized to actually produce goods and services, specialize in a skill and be rewarded for doing so. Bitcoin as a currency is a long process, but I think there will be a day when the government will not be able to acquire stuff for a money that can be created just by the federal reserve pushing a button.
We'll know when we get there, but my eggs are in the bitcoin basket.

He upsets a lot of people but I’ve always found his views on open source (such as it not really open source if someone else can’t build on it commercially) interesting

3 boys and a daughter here, protecting your baby girl is a good and natural instinct. You just got some steps out of order this time and did good apologizing quickly.
I've made it my goal to never have to say "sorry, I didn't realize that". Not saying it's easy, but training yourself to ask questions/gather more information when emotions rise (assuming no imminent threat exists) gives time and space to later only raise your voice because you chose to for effect rather than from emotion.
Good news is you'll have hundreds of times in the near future where kids will get you upset and you'll get to improve your response and be the dad/friend you aspire to become.

I hope the US never has a strategic bitcoin reserve. I do hope US citizens haves huge stacks of BTC. A nation is only wealthy if the people hold the wealth
