Trump gets called a thug, king, fascist, gangster, and somehow the attack lands like a Valentine to male power. People hear danger, but they also hear dominance. Nobody ever lost for seeming too much like the boss. They lose for looking like Dukakis in the tank helmet, Kerry windsurfing into “flip-flop,” Howard Dean screaming off the rails, Bush Sr. buried under the “wimp factor,” or Jeb reduced to “low energy.” In presidential politics, weakness is fatal. Villainy can be charisma.

Everybody blames Trump for everything, from DHS fights to ICE to borders and spending. But his supporters are watching what he is being blamed for, and often they actually agree with those positions. So the constant attack does not weaken him. It makes that line, “they’re not after me, they’re after you, I’m just standing in the way,” feel less like rhetoric and more like a description of reality. The more he is blamed, the more he looks like the shield.

“The world hates America” and “Europe resents America” are not March 2026 revelations. Europeans were already describing the relationship as a mix of gratitude, envy, and resentment in the postwar era, amid fights over “Americanization.” The “Ugly American” trope itself dates to the 1958 novel critiquing U.S. arrogance abroad. This is old transatlantic weather, not breaking news.

Question: Why does the media seem to prefer “anti-democratic” now instead of “anti-constitutional”? Those do not seem interchangeable to me. “Anti-democratic” sounds like opposition to the will of voters, while “anti-constitutional” sounds like a claim about constitutional limits, lawful order, and structural restraints. Is this just a shift in language, or a deliberate change in framing?

After hearing that the shooter at the Virginia college was stopped by an ROTC dude with a knife I thought I would share that just about every man in Virginia carries one of these (this is mine) or something like this clipped to their strong side pocket every day of their life. Not just Virginia. Lots of American men do. It's extremely common.

When the Virginia gun bills first looked like 10-round limits with no grandfather clause, I suddenly became a fierce defender of liberty. Speeches, posts, outrage, the whole thing.
Now the compromise version appears to be 15 rounds with grandfathering for what people already own. Which means my magazines are fine.
And in a shocking development, my revolutionary spirit has collapsed like a cheap lawn chair. Apparently my courage had a capacity limit too.

I watched the State of the Union unfiltered, no panel, no fact-check crawl, just podium and room. Nearly two hours of stamina under heckling didn’t resemble the collapse narrative I keep hearing. Democrats sitting on their hands looked smaller on camera. It wasn’t empathetic or apologetic. It was forceful and forward. I don’t know if that shifts polling, but in the moment, it worked.

SNAP survives because it moves money. Benefits get spent fast and almost entirely at grocery stores, which means predictable pass-through revenue to retailers and supply chains. In low-income or rural areas, that steady demand lowers risk and makes stores viable. I’m not denying households benefit. I’m saying programs endure when they align with economic throughput and make the numbers work.

A pirate doesn’t get clearance from the harbor authority. A punk doesn’t check in with brand managers. Counterculture requires distance from institutional power. When your talking points are echoed by major news anchors, reinforced by corporate advertisers, and aligned with compliance departments, you’re not outside the system. You may still feel rebellious, but if the establishment amplifies you, you’re operating within it—not against it.

I’m not shrugging at Epstein because I think it’s trivial. I’m shrugging because none of it feels new. I grew up on Eyes Wide Shut, satanic panic documentaries, trafficking storylines, Alex Jones monologues, QAnon threads, crime shows stuffed with container ships and hidden rooms. For 40 years the cultural background noise has been “the powerful are depraved.” When the curtain pulls back a little, it doesn’t feel like revelation. It feels like confirmation.

Billionaires in America are gods. Not symbols. Gods. They must be treated as such. Scraped before. Sacrificed to. Adored. Adoration doesn’t have to mean affection. Fear works. Reverence works. But tone matters. When they feel worshiped, the rain falls. When they feel mocked or robbed, the fields dry and the temples relocate. That’s the operating system. Everything else is background music.

I’m 56, and I’ve never experienced America as a cradle-to-grave protection culture. It’s a sink-or-swim country. You get legal rights, rule of law, and protection from foreign tyranny. You don’t get insulation from hardship.
Even “Give me your tired, your poor” is poetry, not policy. It’s compassionate, yes—but it promises refuge and a chance, not paternalism or a nanny state. That distinction matters.

Paternalistic racism refers to well-meaning advocacy that frames certain groups as fragile, uniquely vulnerable, or in need of guardianship. While often rooted in empathy, it can unintentionally limit agency and complexity. Regularly examining motivations—especially when acting on others’ behalf without invitation—helps ensure care does not become control.

People confronting ICE aren’t naive. They know armed agents are present and that things can turn deadly. Choosing to step into that anyway is a deliberate wager with death. You can believe their cause is wrong, dangerous, or delusional, but you cannot deny that this kind of risk-taking is a form of courage.

This is all based on the assumption that most Americans think being an empire is bad. I don’t think that’s true at all. A lot of Americans are perfectly happy being the global hegemon and sole superpower. Trying to make them feel guilty or ashamed about it mostly lands on empty air.

2026-01-09 22:42:46 UTC

A lot of activists behave as if ICE and federal agents are governed by Asimov’s Three Laws, like sci-fi robots that can’t harm people and must always de-escalate. That’s fiction. In reality, armed agents operate on threat detection, control, and self-preservation. When crowds block vehicles or someone moves unexpectedly, it triggers force, not negotiation. That gap between fantasy and reality is where tragedy lives.

Unless one isn't happy in which case there's no such thing as too much and there's not enough to ever fill that hole of unhappiness.

Actually it's more common around the world for someone to be just happy with bread lines but free bread hospital lines but with free health care 10-year waits for crappy cars vacations to the factory villa or the factory beach and enough food to boil and eat because honestly that's a more normal view of the world and what the world is still like and it can even be worse where people literally die of hunger and exposure So I mean I guess it depends on what you prioritize.

In a world saturated with propaganda, it’s hard to tell which narratives reflect lived reality. The Venezuelans most amplified by media are usually elite exiles whose wealth ceiling was crushed, not the poorest who fear losing the floor. Many people support systems like socialism not for luxury, but for stability: a floor on poverty, vulnerability, and chaos. Who gets heard matters.

Liberals often argued that even if Biden were senile or debilitated, it didn’t matter because he had an experienced, competent staff running the White House. Fair enough. But that logic cuts both ways. If Trump is a clown or a buffoon yet surrounded by a powerful, effective team, then dismissing outcomes based on personality alone is analytically empty.

I mean you mistake me for someone who didn't vote for Trump. That said, if you read my substack, which I'm not asking you to do, because I hate people who ask people to read their substack, you'll see that I am isolationist, I am anti-invasion, I'm anti-imperialism, and I'm anti-adventurism, I'll just share you one article with you:

I mean America, in 2026, as proven every day in the courts, is an extremely misogynistic, slutshaming, judgmental, kind of collective who will kind of dismiss these girls as de facto sex workers anyway and that they put themselves in this situation and they'll end up blaming the girls and destroying their characters and destroying their lives and turning it around on them. Because that's the patriarchy baby.

I wonder how much of this is going to end up folding when everybody realizes that these awful awful Epstein men were just having sex with young girls who didn't live at home anymore and who were kind of like street urchins and want to be models and actresses and kind of we're living on their own without any parental oversight and that they were over 13 or 14. I mean there's lots of people who just roll their eyes at that and I wonder if that will collapse the cases.

Since I never cared about these things and have always been kind of a MILF guy who likes curvy girls, it never came up to me or for me; however, I just realized in the last 10 years that the age of consent not relative age but age of consent in Hawaii up until 2001 was literally 14 years of age. So until I was 31 Hawaii was a place you could legally bang a 14-year-old no matter how old you were. It's fixing crazy as shit.

Maybe the reason why I feel this way is because I grew up in Hawaii and I hung out in Waikiki all the time and all of my girlfriends and female friends who are 14, 15, and 16 would all end up with like adult punkers who would you know buy them stuff and they'd stay in hotels together and they would like play act adult and they would you know be as adult as they felt they were. And adult men and I think that they were punkers in their '20s can do these things for them.

And much the way that there's conflation between migrants, immigrants, illegals, refugees, all being the same thing I think that calling people who are banging 13 to 21-year-old supermodels who are super rich and to this in the '80s is not the same as people who did all zero to 10-year-olds. Call me crazy, call that a hot take.

I'm not saying normalized urban urbane behavior and the relationship between old rich men and young models and aspirational actresses in the city are moral, ethical, and not assault or sexual abuse and the abuse of coercive rich people to buy a young women but young women used to be you know 13 to 17 18 was adult and you know so I mean it was pretty normal. I think anybody who has generational wealth and is over 50 probably is that.

2026-01-03 16:04:12 UTC

- reply

I mean even the normalized concept of sugar daddies started out with really rich men getting apartments for young girls or the girls who came to New York or and were living in model communes sort of like sorority houses in the city sharing resources. They would get really small pocket money like $80 a week and the rest of that money was from sugar daddies. It's not cheap being a regular model in Manhattan and so people would look for people who could help them live a better NYC life.

2026-01-03 16:03:06 UTC

I'm old enough to remember when Rich old men banging models in New York was normal. I also remember when being a model in New York was something only being done by 13 to 17-year-olds. So if those New York rich people were banging models they were obviously openly banging 13 to 17-year-olds. So this Epstein thing is kind of hypocritical because rich men always bang 13 to 17-year-old women and called them jailbait. It was pretty normal in New York City.

I think I'm the only person not caught up in hysteria about Epstein. I assume everybody's always been like this. All my friends are secretly kinky and go to sex parties. I mean not all my friends just my Urban DC elite Friends. When they get to know you long enough they tell you about their underground sex parties and that they went to them during COVID.

I don't care. But, like MAGA likes to say, FAFO cuts both ways. Actions have consequences. Probably at the ballot box. I won't vote for Trump again for doing this. I'm sure I'm not alone.

This is extralegal and extrajudicial: no declaration of war, no clear congressional or UN authorization, no due process. Unilateral seizure of a foreign head of state shreds sovereignty and international law.
