the subscription model, wonderful for shareholders, is what did it for me. I ditched Lightroom because of this, but I still miss it. Fantastic software but business practices actively hostile to many users.

once had a couple arguing outside our RV (tiny camper van, we’re in the UK) late at night. Got increasingly heated as each blamed the other for various indiscretions. Eventually I had to stick my head out and say “you’re both idiots, clearly made for each other”. They took this surprisingly well.

I just bought a nice 9U rack cabinet to go in my garage and house cat6 terminations, switch, router and couple of mini pc servers. Lovely. Only I don’t have room for it in the space it needs to fit in. Bah! Anyone near Bangor NI need a nice unused 9U rack cabinet?

I recently stayed with a wonderful farming family in Scotland. Dad runs a pig farm, for someone else, and they live in a rented house that’s in terrible condition. Eldest son manages a dairy herd, for someone else, and lives in a house that doesn’t actually meet basic standards for human habitation. This is the reality for so many people who actually do the farming. I’m all for land ownership becoming more diverse.
