We conceptualise seasons starting at the beginning of a month, not at a solstice or equinox. Summer is 1 December to 28 February, and so on. The season names are mostly just tags anyway, at least for those of us not living in temperate zones. I have to recite “spring, summer, autumn, winter” to know if I’m in spring or autumn, as these aren’t meaningful to me. Honestly for me in the subtropics I feel like summer is from October to April; May and September are shoulder seasons; June to August is a lovely mild winter!

I’m sort-of obsessed about not eating meat that’s “dry”, which for me really means “not fatty enough”. I can eat chicken breast if there’s enough fat in the accompaniments but if I only had to think of myself I would never choose chicken breast or other dry meats.

[Warning; I’m a non-United-Statesian making comments as an outsider.]
There’s probably a few steps before Step 1, but it seems too late for the United States: improve the democratic processes, e.g. reduce gerrymandering, remove first-post-the-post voting, get rid of that weird electoral college system.
I don’t advocate violent revolution but is it even possible to stop authoritarianism by voting, when the voting happens within a system that isn’t very democratic?

A calendar reminder just popped up on my phone about a bushwalk and coffee chat in an hour with my philosophy friend.
