@nprofile…glgc I'd love to offer some bounties. I just feel as If there's two hurdles: Where do I offer this so that I can target multiple OSS. And what a feature is worth to me probably doesn't convince someone to implement it if they weren't going for it to begin with.

On the topic of the Martian - Project Hail Mary is an outstanding read. Would recommend to read it soon-ish before the movie adaptation spoils the plot.

@nprofile…ucsf Only the last part I'm a bit fuzzy on. The amelioration by starting from the middle. Essentially starting our lookup from the base pattern in the center of the depth map, doing the right side. With that done - what do you base your left side lookup on? The base pattern or the distorted right side of your encoded image?

@nprofile…x759 I really, really, really want to check out Debian again. But I had some many weird setup issues each time I tried - the ISO being the only package source, some encrypted lvm weirdness and a finicky installer.
