the negative narrative is because the damned billionaires are pushing AI in our throat looking only at their profit, regardless the collateral damages like destroying a civilization and making dumber more people than ever. or destroying the work market and removing livehood for millions of people.
I wish them with all my heart they will have to pay a lot for every cents they stole.

Not necessarily a specific product (well, for example I don't even consider to buy a tesla :) ) but I was thinking more about online sellers.
I always look for alternatives before to buy something (from food to electronics) and more and more in the end the most cheap and actually available place is the usual amazon.
But in the end boycotting somebody is really becoming impossible.
Brand changes, way out higher prices if not coming from the usual places .. as I said the choice is buy or not buy.
For the software I always try the open source way first, so far I have to say I avoided many proprietary SW, BUT again, for work is not matter of choices.
Customers/clients wants to use specific products (like AWS or Azure) and thus you are forced to buy stuff just to work on that.
Telling a customer no is not really a good strategy if you want to work.
Bottom line, also in SW not always there is a real choice.
Billionaire did build a self sustainable ecosystem :(

The problem is that in more and more places there is no alternative to many products or even PLACES where to buy alternative products.
Or, rephrasing, more and more people has less and less choices.
In the end the choice will be : buy - don't buy.
We can avoid to buy many things, but when the choice affect basic necessary things ... then what ?

Honestly, I think this would be a right thing to do.
I did come here following the rules, interviews, fees, every year I had to prove to be qualified and needed for my job, the company who hired me had to post my job offer for years, etc.
To have the green card I spent YEARS, always following thousand rules, FBI check, etc.
And somebody could simply win a lottery skipping all of this ?
To say "unfair" is an understatement.
The rules must be for everybody, if not are not rules.

I'm not a smart genius (never been), I did enter US with an HB1 eons ago, I think I did something interesting and decent with my profession but honestly, the "smartest people" would stay far far away from this. Not every body looks only to money on this planet.
There is people that look at safety, self respect, empathy, a nice place where to live.

Just a personal comment, if a CEO doesn't think investing personal time to talk with people, why people should invest time to listen to an avatar ?

Seriously, more time passes and people still is on that social media, more they must agree with the platform manifesto.
The treatment I got is the same I have on ANY platform I use, people read what I write, can agree or not. That's it.
I'm sure at 100% that who doesn't know me is not assuming by default me to be a nice/jolly guy, a must to know guy. On a social media we are what we write. I apply the same rule, i.e. it has nothing to do with my judgment on who leave the nazi cove now, I'll still be suspicious but I base what I think about somebody on what he/she write.

Honestly, if somebody leaves the nazi bar NOW, I would have some suspect.

I'm not an expert but I think every state in the end dictate how weapons are regulated. There are some federal guidelines but are the states who regulate (or not) that.
So yes, there are states with more restrictions and real background check and states totally deranged (usually republican ones in the bible belt). The problem is that somebody from a high regulated state can go to a deranged one to buy whatever one wants.

When this nation was built guns were a life necessity. No law, lot of dangers from different groups, from a harsh nature. Staying alive was not easy. So I understand how the gun culture was born. The problem is that everything else evolved and changed, but the sense of protection a gun give to many people is still stronger.
Simply too many "believe" that only a gun will protect them not even realizing that the main threat is coming from too many guns available to everybody, including weak people, easily scared people, mental ill people, etc.
What can go wrong ?
Lack of education, too much fear in so many people, arrogance to believe to be the best, believing in gods that endorse the use of guns as divine right and lot of other similar bullshit, did create a "popular culture" where the gun is the common denominator.
Guns are now a symbol for power, for self-determination, for faith and nationalistic identity. I think one could write a book on that.
