A few months ago, the couple signed a lease for their own apartment.
“For the very first time, I felt like I didn’t have to do it all myself,” Harmony said. “We never had to wonder, ‘What are we going to do now?’ They were already thinking ahead of what we might need.”

They were too young to have amassed any real savings, and they were leaving all of their friends and most of their possessions behind.
A Traction peer navigator met the couple at the airport. Three different couples who volunteer with the group offered to house Harmony and his boyfriend for weeks at a time. The navigator helped Harmony sign up for health insurance and food benefits, and eventually, Traction helped the couple find jobs and enroll in college.

I was talking to a friend yesterday about the tariffs and the motivation for them. 'Many people in Canada LOVE being the 51st State'
I call BS
Canadians don’t want to give up on average 12 percent of their income to pay for profit insurance companies to then pay a 1,200 deductible and a co pay and still be one serious incident away from loosing everything.
The rest of the world thinks the American insurance business is nothing but a scam unless your wealthy or a politician or a celebrity where money means nothing.

Let’s stop calling this thing a polar vortex. When I see temperatures are -20 and lower then we can use this term. This is a normal cold air mass. Stop hyping everything.

Hmm, everyone knows the late 70’s early 80’s Cadillacs were the most comfortable cars ever made. Like riding on your living extra plush couch plus they had fuel injection.

Isn’t it interesting that we have a unified world wide standard for the symbols we call numbers, and frequencies yet we can’t seem to do the same with temperature, speed and distance.
Temperature is a particularly divisive issue. I am of the camp that a value of 100 represents hot and zero represents cold.

I don’t mean to sound ungrateful but this really was the worse holiday season I have ever experienced. I’ll probably just go away now.

I am thinking of reinstalling my Quake 3 server and putting it online.
Would anyone play on it?

It seems like there are two groups of people in the fediverse, those well off and those in extreme poverty. It seems pretty strange to me. Just pointing it out from observations over the last few years.

Phone phreaks generally hated the telephone company as an institution because they were a rip off. While they loved the technology they hated the corporation. Today I feel the same way about Google and YouTube. As far as I am concerned it’s ok to rip off YouTube, it’s even better to run ad blockers.
So yes, go ahead and rip off Google and YouTube. Your former Bell Telephone company will thank you.
