Has anyone encountered a bug with #i3wm where you can't click or type into a window on a workspace until you select another workspace and then go back to it?
Also had an odd issue where if I switch away it doesn't always make the window go away.

My wife has had M.E./Chronic Fatigue since she was 15 so I know how debilitating it can be. I take every day one day at a time. Some days she has really good days, and others she doesn't. I feel really blessed to have her in my life and couldn't imagine living any other way.

Is there anything in #FreeBSD that allows for nice adding of WiFi networks in KDE? Linux has NetworkManager but it seems FreeBSD you just have to edit the wpa_supplicant.conf file by hand.

@nprofile…x4wz I have an OpenBSD protectli device doing DNS perimeter filtering and also working as a WireGuard server. I plan on eventually switching it to be my firewall when I get tired of using the Eero 6+ but I've just not gotten around to it yet.

Has anyone run into an issue in #WireGuard in which the Endpoint is a fully qualified domain name (e.g. vpn.example.org:51820) and the tunnel won't work, but it will work if you put in the IP address (which is IPv4)? I wonder if it has to do with having both IPv4 and IPv6 stacks running and active at the same time on the client and it can't, for some reason our another, establish the tunnel correctly?

Have been messing around with #wine on #FreeBSD .. it doesn't seem to run a certain game. I noticed its launcher is patching a .DLL in memory and it looks like FreeBSD doesn't allow this (which is probably a great security feature) but it's breaks the game. Any ideas on how to fix?
I wish there was a place with an explanation of all the knobs and dials in FreeBSD's sysctl, loader.conf etc

@nprofile…sr9k I have to use an Apple M1 Pro (2021 model) for $dayjob. I'm frustrated that I can't run a tiling wm on it. I guess I could try to put #OpenBSD on it, but it's technically not my machine so just stuck with MacOS.

Been reading about this malware China is using written for Linux:

and it struck me: Why mount /tmp and /var/tmp without noexec, nodev, nosuid? Seems crazy to allow a directory anyone can write to, to run executables.
While we're at it, get rid of wget and curl and anything else that would allow them to even get a "dropper" on the system?
Isn't this common sense stuff?!

How do you deal with ports that have suddenly "dropped support for OpenSSL older than 3.0"?
Is there a way to patch them to compile with the system LibreSSL or should I just be adding a dependency on security/openssl/3.4 ?
I'd rather patch them to use LibreSSL if possible.

Question:
#mysql and #ZFS snapshots... Do I need to stop the MySQL jail or service before I take the ZFS snapshot? Or do I need to lock all tables? Or will it just take a proper snapshot of MySQL at that moment in time without issues?

Got a question for the #fediverse :
Those of you who use tiling window managers (like i3, dwm, xmonad, etc)
How do you handle, say, a giant curved monitor? Seems mad to have a terminal plastered across a 49" curved monitor. Can you split the monitor into "screens"? Is X Windows up to the task? (Please, no suggestions for Wayland.. it's not really complete yet)
