You really need a strong bond of trust to raise a Big dog. Odin likes to play a game with me when I get the leash, where he tries to prevent me actually getting it on until he concedes he’s cornered (or I get serious about there being no time for games).
And I realize it must look, to someone else, like he’s trying to bite my hand off! But he’s not. He’s making a play-gesture that doesn’t hurt at all. And I have complete trust in him when he “snaps” at my hand that we’re playing a game and it’s never his intent to hurt me.
(Okay yes there’s a tooth-hole in my sleeve, but he was a puppy when he did that.)
(And if you’re worried about hypotheticals… he doesn’t play this way with randos. Odin understands he can play rough with mommy and daddy but not people outside the house)

It has been 0️⃣ days since a lady yelled at me because my dog was off-lead in the off-lead dog park for letting dogs off-lead
She said it was because her (on-lead) dog was injured and like. If another dog approaching yours for a friendly sniff is an acute medical risk, why did you bring them HERE
(Odin *does* have a problem where when he’s off-lead, he ignores you when you tell him it’s time to stop and come back; I’ve been trying to improve this. But he didn’t *do* anything harmful or dangerous.)

they almost hit me and Odin in their getaway car (we are okay)
the police were like ten seconds behind them and I helped point out which way they'd run after ditching the car after almost hitting me
this was right by the Jewish community center and the kids in the car matched the description and within two minutes the neighborhood was absolutely flooded with police so I'm pretty sure it was them

My day began by being awoken by a phone alert that war had broken out, progressed to HOA neighbor hell, and ended with the abrupt arrival of the worst power outage I’ve experienced in the Netherlands (where the power is much more reliable than anywhere I ever lived in the US).
Which means that the building group chat is now about the power outage and not putting my dog on trial for smelling like a dog, so it’s an improvement. Though we did have to make Odin go down and up six flights of stairs for evening walkies because the outage isn’t expected to be resolved until after we’re all asleep

I clicked the audio troubleshooting button in Settings. It did not send me to the troubleshooter, but instead redirected me to install a help app. (yes, it wasn't even pre-installed.)
The help app told me to click the audio troubleshooter button.

(we've fixed the audio problem by unplugging the USB microphone and rebooting. before you @ me self-righteously about someone else's operating system which was chosen in accordance with THEIR needs and not mine and certainly not yours, consider whether I might react with the fury of ten thousand suns)

so it turns out that when VS Code asks you “do you trust the authors of this folder?” what they mean is that it’ll auto-execute .vscode/tasks.json if it exists, which can include shell commands.
maybe that’s too many features. you can’t hold all these features. put a few features back

The electrical company cracked open our building today to replace some equipment. While this was going on, an electrical shed several streets away spontaneously exploded and took out power for half of Amsterdam — but somehow not us.
the expensive-looking equipment has been abandoned in the parking lot. I’m sure it’s fine to leave out overnight… 😅

He swore he lived in the building where I found him flat in the slush in the parking lot, but I didn’t recognize him (it’s the very next building), none of his keys opened the door, and when he kited in behind someone else, he wandered around for a few minutes, came out the side exit, and went back to trying to open the front door over and over.
My husband and I politely encouraged him to keep trying the door and not leave while we kept looking over our shoulders for emergency services. Hopefully they’ll be able to figure out what door his keys do open

incredible. the second trucker also got themselves clipped into the guardrail, but somehow the game engine now considered them both able to call a tow truck. the race is saved
