You have no idea what you're dealing with. The Stasi is amateur hour by comparison.
What's worst: there's no superpower to save you. Both China and Russia are autocracies who will have no interest in changing the status quo.

You people are still under the delusion that there will be free and fair elections and assuming that their power depends on popularity or appeal to voters.
That's not how autocratic Power works.
Let me tell you, as someone from Europe, with generations in our families who lived under dictatorships when they replaced Democracies: it was swift, overwhelming and once they were in, it took generations of resistance, wars and many deaths to get them out.
Americans are intoxicated with the myth of "american exceptionalism" to realise the trap they're in. Because you never lived in a dictatorship, you think it can't happen to you.
Wake up, it's already too late. Civil war is inevitable at this point, if it even happens. And if it does, there's no guarantee that the democratic side wins.

The exact same strategy and media coverage has been happening word for word about the Portuguese SNS (equivalent to the NHS). It's uncanny how unimaginative and absolutely identical the whole strategy is. And it works, privatisation has been marching forward and funding for the SNS has been cut every year. People end up subscribing private health insurance because they're left with no recourse. And all of this was carried out not only by right-wing parties, but also "centrist" / blairite labour governments.
It's criminal and happening in plain sight.

I understand your point of view. But I use Ubuntu Touch since 2015 to this day, and I'm happy with it. It's very reliable, efficient, has plenty of apps and suits my needs. I don't use WhatsApp or any Meta products (by choice) I use telegram, matrix, mastodon (work fine on my phone) and also don't use banking apps (they're data hoovers) but I do use 2FA apps which are also available on the Open Store and work wonderfully.
Also, my phone allows me to run waydroid (with f-droid and aurora store) when I need to run any Android app, without Google services. So far, so good!

Reminder: billionaires have an army of nannies, drivers, aircraft pilots, errand boys, accountants, lawyers, cleaners, assistants, chefs and people to do all kinds of chores for them.
When they say "working 12 hours is my standard", it's because they don't have to do any more work after those 12 hours (if that number is even remotely true...).
And most of their "work" is not *actual work*: it's mostly attending meetings, talking on the phone, travelling and having 3 hour lunches, while delegating everything onto to someone else, to actually do the actual hard work and laborious tasks.

The midterms will be a sham. The judiciary is captured or ignored, congress will effectively be nullified all but in form, to pass a no-limit term bill and the elections in 2028 will be held with an iron fist and virtually no chance for opposition. They're already setting up all they need. I'm just wondering how long it will take for freedom of the press to be removed. A couple of months? A year?

E eu continuo a pedir-vos uma definição precisa, não são artigos de opinião. Quem pratica "políticas identitárias" é a extrema-direita (é a base da sua ideologia) e o PSD quando ordenam operações policiais contra imigrantes escuros ou acusam esses imigrantes escuros de prejudicarem o SNS.

That statement is incredibly optimistic. Most of Europe and the US are sliding towards autocracies, with a mix of deep-seated, hidden anti-semitism (revealed in their professed "love of Israel") and an even deeper anti-muslim / arabic sentiment. The right and far-right in the western world see Israel as a tool for twofold purposes: having a place to put all the jews they don't want in their backyard, and as a colonial military base and intelligence ops to keep the arabs and their resources "under control".
Israel could trounce and burn all the arabs in mass graves and ovens and the western powers wouldn't bat an eye. Public opinion against apartheid and genocide is suppressed by social media algorithms, and most mass media omission, silence and collaboration. And even the judicial arm of governments is enacting punishment on anyone who dares to speak out (and this is happening in supposedly democratic nations, like Germany or the Netherlands).
Sadly, that's the reality we're in. This will end very badly for everyone involved.

Those people will never unionise because the majority of them still think they are elite workers. They are slowly coming to the realisation that not all of them will become "CEO" or "founder" scoring major monies from a "disruptive" "innovation" created in a garage somewhere with Daddy VC money.
Journalists also live under the same delusion, because of their false proximity to power.
